The first in the series, the ‘Chocolate’ was released way back in July 2006 first through Verizon Wireless.

Soon after the demands nearly overflowed the anticipated statistics, LG decided to build an empyrean range of similar handsets which were selectively distinct in their functionalities and form factors. This was followed by LG Shine and LG Secret immediately after its wild fire success.

Then to keep the tradition going and to make a distinction, the LG Chocolate BL40 comes into the picture. What’s so special? The first thing you will notice about the phone is its extra wide 4” inch display (1” wider than my PSP actually) and almost equal to the Nokia E90 display.

The LG Chocolate BL40 is beautifully slim and all loaded to draw attention instantly like one has just witnessed a pretty supernatural being rising out of your pockets and the serenity of its look speaks for it.

The LG Black Series BL40 : I love Chocolate!

The “Real VGA” screen is protected by tempered glass and displays crisp images and appealing videos at 800×345 pixels. Presumptively, the new LG Chocolate comes with an accelerometer function that senses the alignment of the phone and changes the display to landscape or portrait accordingly (check out video below for the hint).

Well, this makes it a really good thing when it comes to watching movies or using its seemingly comfortable on screen QWERTY keyboard. The 21:9 screen aspect ratio renders a panoramic, cinema-like quality and optimal mobile computing experience.

The 5MP camera on the back is really worthy of your attention again. It takes quick shots brilliantly with little ease while the front facing VGA camera supports my assertion of included 3G support into the Chocolate.

Featured among others is a full browser support for email, Bluetooth 2.0 (as it appears on the icons in the image), internet surfing on HSDPA 7.2 MBps or quick connect with Wi-Fi. There are a couple of rumored features that include a built in memory of some 335MB which can be integrated with an optional microSD card.

The LG BL40 Chocolate comes with an active flash UI (seems like the cover-flow gallery) which is really a good factor to utilize the phone’s multi touch functionality. The Dual Screen UI lets you use two screens side by side which can be used to perfrom different functions in parallel. For example, you can check your mail and browse the web at the same time on the other part of the screen.

Because LG is wise enough, they did confine the phone’s functionality to just entertainment zone, for that reason, an A-GPS system will always be at your disposal to assist you with the geography, as and when you demand.

“The initial response to the new LG Chocolate phone has exceeded our expectations by a wide margin,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications. “Although much interest seems focused on the striking shape of the handset, the real surprise will be when people discover the advantages of the 4.0-inch screen in terms of viewing pleasure and ease of use.”

The Black Series LG Chocolate (BL40) will be availabe in around 54 countries starting from Q3. However, there were no official confirmations on its price and further specifications.
