Why Spend over $1,000 on a tablet PC? Upgrade simply and cheaply with DUO!

That’s exactly the same cynosure text from the Duo Website which left me nonplussed. Before you begin to frame any ideas of what the heading above actually means, let me tell you that owning a touch screen laptop or a tablet PC isn’t the only way to experience the pleasure of touch screen computing.

When Bill Gates, the father of Microsoft, quoted way back in 2008 that “In the future we will be writing directly on the monitor without using a keyboard or a mouse”, he wasn’t making a false prediction, rather it seems to me, he was visionary enough to disclose a honest premonition about the evolution of that technology and the day has come.

Featured : The Duo BaseStation

DUO incorporates next generation technology to convert almost any laptop or computer LCD into a touch screen with full tablet functionality. Using patented technology combining ultrasonic waves and infrared rays, the DUO is a must have for any business professional, student, graphic designer, artist, and more!

Basically, Duo is a wireless digital pen mouse that connects to your laptop or monitor through a basestation powered by USB. The basestation is attached on the top of the laptop or monitor screen and once it is plugged into the USB, the digital pen is ready to virtually anything that you could by using a laptop or a mouse.

Tech : Interfacing With Duo

It converts your laptop or monitor screen into full touch screen so that you can either scribble your notes in the word editor or make some funny artistic drawings and even powerpoint presentations. All this is possible effortlessly with the Digital Pen Mouse as Duo uses ultrasonic and infrared waves to acquire the X and Y coordinates which are then reflected to the base station.

From clicking on icons to navigating through applications, creating and writing text to converting it into digital ASCII form, art and drawing to signature writing and virtually anything you could imagine, it does it all. It also interfaces with Windows Vista and Windows 7 built in software.

Interacting With Screens

On a much lighter side, the Duo Digital Pen Mouse can free up your desk space by replacing your keyboard and mouse, while technically it can empower you to do anything creative you desire. You can also use the ballpoint pen tip to write directly on paper and have the image appear on DUO’s NoteTaker software.

Easy Do : Handwriting to Digital Text

It’s a pen shaped mouse that anyone can easily use and does many high precison tasks easily that you would otherwise give you a pain in the nerves to deal with. It can be used at airports, hospitals, business organizations, commercial centers, and ofcourse, your home or home-office.

The only thing that should obstruct our review being obsessively positive is that you need to hold you’re against the monitor when you are using it, which is pretty uncomfortable, especially when you are working for hours at a stretch.

I’ m already seeing the future and the next revolution would look something like the data glove that Tony Stark (remember Iron Man movie) uses to design his hitech armor. Well, fasten your seat belts, seems we are approaching that future at a really faster pace!
