Spamza.org is keeping hopes alive of people who used Spamz.com to be mischievous or simply evil to others. Spamza is a service which automatically subscribes the given e-mail address with 100’s of online Newsletters. A good number of these services do not require any confirmation or authintification from the orignal e-mail address owner to subscribe.

 Here is how it works:

Visit Spamza.org

Enter an e-mail address (visit http://www.guerrillamail.com/ to get a disposable e-mail address to try Spamza)

Submit it! That’s all it takes!

The script runnig in the background subscribes the e-mail address with dozen of sites.

This not only shows how easy it is to spam somone with this service but also exposes those sites which do not operate according to the online standards and subscribe e-mails without e-mail confirmation.

Spamza.com is currently down as the host of the website refuses to host it anymore.

Sign up any email without confirmation for free spam. SpamZa.com will sign up this email to hundreds of newsletters anonymously” to “SpamZa is currently down because some host has less balls than it said it did. We are currently actively looking for a new host. We WILL be back. We never give up.” Know a host that might be interested in hosting us? Drop us a line at admin@spamza.com. We will give a generous percentage of all advertising revenue. As an informative purpose only, our best day earnt us 35$ — and we are still very very small. Please contact us if you are ready to host SpamZa or if you have any question – [Link]

The DOT COM version of the domain was hosted at 1&1 Internet which refused to host the site anymore and the currently running version, DOT ORG is running on services offered by Zoneedit.com/

Following are few messages from the world of Twitter, discussing the shutdown of Spamza.com

Image on the left is an example of Parked Domain which I consider as SPAM from Stone-age. Web Spam is one of the top challenges all the search engines are dealing with. The moment a new anti-spam mechanism is designed, spammers work their way around it. This cat and mouse game between search engines and spammers is not only leading to in depth research of what Web Spam is and how to automatically detect it before it makes it to the top but also it is making spammers come up with smarter SPAM techniques.

I wrote an article two weeks ago which made it to the top of the search results for a high traffic keyword. I noticed about 3-4 scrapers having the same article and sometimes ranking over me, which honestly is not a pleasant sight for any blogger. Well I thought this will be taken care off by the search engine quickly, but I was wrong, the site still comes up on the search results with keywords and articles from blogosphere.

I know a LOT if not ALL about SPAM, and I can tell that the spam is getting smarter by the day which is not easy to catch and this certainly is not a good news for any search engine which is trying to fight spam and keep its search results SPAM free.

Following Video Discusses New SPAM Techniques: Speaker: Jake Abernethy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAO73M7NlHk

Following are Web Spam research papers published in 2007 which talks about the types and percentage of spam in different verticals and categories.
