Well, it’s hard to have the luxury of a really good free software from Microsoft. However, SteadyState is an exception. Not that it doesn’t come without a price. You need to have a genuine Windows OS to be able to use this software.

Let’s say you have been having long days without much adventure with your personal computer. I suffer from this problem and I keep flirting with my PC. However, sometimes I mess the shit up and have no one else to blame but me. Now, there’s a better way of trying to mess the shit up and feel safe to recover from it. SteadyState does exactly this. Let’s say you have been flirting with your PC and wanted to recover from it, and you realized that you never setup the Windows Restore option, or you recently deleted the restore points.

With SteadyState all this would be taken care off. More importantly let’s say you share your PC and at the end of the day you want to have it the way you gave it to the person. Just hit a button and you should be good. Let’s see how Microsoft describes SteadyState:

Share computers, not headaches

What state is your shared computer in at the end of the day?

Hard disk filled with downloaded files?

Strange options configured?

Programs installed that you don’t want?

System infected with viruses and spyware?

Computer bogged down for unknown reasons?

So this means you can restart your PC and have your favorite configuration back. Let’s see the features in details:

This is how the main window looks like:

The main components are marked by the Square brackets. You can hit the three global computer settings and set it up. The “Set Computer restrictions” screen looks like this:

The check boxes are self explanatory. The third setting under Global Computer Setting is Protect the Hard Disk. It looks something like this:

This one’s the most important setting you might want to look into if you want to mess some shit up someday with your PC or if you share your computer. I hope the scheduling window in future will include scheduling to bring your PC to a state you set it up. Say every night 12 you it can set your PC back to a particular state. Right now this window allows you to set SteadyState to manage your Windows Update Downloads.

This article discusses why programmers should not have a mind of their own. There are more than a few reasons why creative people should not be Web Developers or Software Engineers.

To start with if a programmer is creative then he cannot control himself but suggest UI changes, functionality changes and if too intelligent then expect nothing less than a brand new business model based on your old one.

Another thing that can happened to creative programmers is that, because they are creative they will come up with a product or an application and start working on (coding) it but in the process of development they might come up with another brilliant new idea and the old one is shelved and the new one starts to see some light on the other end of the tunnel but never comes out of it because now another idea is better.

Usually people who are creative also have a huge EGO because of which they do not like people finding loopholes or improvements in their ideas. This is another reason programmers should not be creative.

Programmers should not fall in love with their own ideas. If this happens then the programmer will do everything from marketing, planning, promotions to partnering and etc… But code.

This is the only reason why companies maintain separate UX design teams. This is why separate marketing and development teams exist.

Here is how!

Downloading paid softwares for free is made possible by TrialPay! Yea that’s the name you should certainly look for while shopping for tools and several other products online. TrialPay will pay for the product you want to buy. Yes, it really does pay for your product; all you have to do is register with one of the advertising partners of TrialPay.

For example I was buying the latest version of ZoneAlarm and while going through the checkout process I saw a sparkling new button which said “Free Security Suit with TrialPay”. Going with my human instincts I clicked on the button and it said “Check out with TrialPay” it took my details and showed me a few offers to select from, once you select one of the offers and complete the checkout you will get your free product. This site does not offer a page with all the products listed, however query "site:trialpay.com/productpage/" in Google and you will see more than 100 products which are up for grabs.

Thats what the checkout process said

However there is a lag time of a day or two before you get your free product as TrialPay confirms the Offer transaction with the advertiser. Enjoy!

freedomainsite.com is a site I wrote about almost a year ago, this site surprisingly follows the same model and offers domain names for free. This site was practicing the same business model even before TrialPlay was launched.
