Perspctv is a new mashup created to compare and measure the popularity of any given keywords. This is achieved through monitoring data from sources like Twitter, Technorati, Google Insights, etc.. It became popular during the recent US elections for its analysis of online information from different sources, but I still see it as a useful tool for different activities.

 I have been testing this service since about two days now and I’ve found it to be a good tool to see what people are discussing and writing about in the real time. UI is very interactive, it lets you pause the results that are updated in real-time, mouseover on graphs to see more information and you can scroll up or down to view the results you’ve missed.

 Few top feature requests made by the users are, 1) Offer a widget which can be embedded into sites and blogs, 2) Offer RSS feeds for each individual searches and 3) Option to leave comments on comparisons.

 I performed a comparison between Google Docs, Office Live, Zoho and from the results I understood that Office Live is the most mentioned/discussed term on Twitter and in blogosphere but stands second to Google Docs in search. I link this surge in “Office Live” popularity to the recent announcements made at MicrosoftPDC about Office Live and other online products.

<a href="javascript:void(window.open('http://tnerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/graphs.png' rel="shadowbox[post-2304];player=img;','TNerd.com - Perspctv','resizable=no,location=no,menubar=no,scrollbars=no,status=no,toolbar=no,fullscreen=no,dependent=no'))">
(Click on the Image to see a bigger view or here to see it live)

 Similarly you can either use this tool to compare any given topic or just track the latest developments on the net.

 Few things that I would like to see on Perspctv are..

Ability to select the source of information

Negatives from positives

Ads separated from the content

Suggestions in terms of the topics that I am using. For example, I used Google Docs, Zoho and Office Live. Is there a better combination

Overall I like the tool for its simple functionality and its flexible desing. Do check it out! Perspctv.
