Linkedin recently joined the “Application” race along with sites like Facebook, Orkut, etc.. However the idea of offering applications on LinkedIn is not the same and is not to be a part of the mad rush to have gazillion applications with thousands of developers developing them to make some money out of it.

The new announcement fits right into what LinkedIn is all about. These applications let its users enhance their profile by sharing information about their professional activities.

LinkedIn announced about 9 applications which include, WordPress, Amazon, Box.net, SlideShare, Google Presentations, Tripit, etc..

Each of these applications has a pourpose and certainly contributes to your professional profile. For example, by using WordPress application you can display the latest posts from your blog on your LinkedIn profile and most certainly this demonstrates your knowledge and perspective in your niche.

Using Amazon’s application the users can display a list of recommended books, Tripit to show your current location, travelling plans, next event, etc.. it keeps your contacts updated with your travelling plans creating more opportunities of meeting one another.

Like I said, these applications are not there to make your profile page more cluttered but to let your contacts know more about you, your knowledge, capabilities, etc..

We certainly recommend each linkedin user to try these applications and add more value to their professional profile.

Click here to visit the application page on LinkedIn
