Wakoopa is an interesting service which brings together people who want to share and discover new and useful softwares, web applications and system utilities.

This service is certainly _not_ for the faint of hearts or for users who have something to hide on their machines. Wakoopa is a sophisticate social networking which connects users by tracking their applications usage behavior. The fact that wakoopa is gaining popularity and has close to 6,000 users using Wakoopa tracker shows that the word “Privacy” is taking a whole new meaning.

Once registered, login to Wakoopa and download Wakoopa tracker. This tracker sits on your computer and watches every possible application that is running on your computer, not only that, it also keeps a track of web applications like Gmail, Youtube, Ebay, Amazon, etc.. Any online service which can be termed as a replacement of a typical desktop application can be categorized as a web applications.

The site also displays list of applications currently running on Waakoopians (Wakoopa Users) machines. The list is constantly updated using the data received from the Wakoopa tracker installed on user machines.

The tracker stores the data even if the users are not connected to the internet, but once connected the tracker then sends all the stored data to the site. All the data stored in tracker is lost when the computer is restarted.

Wakoopa maintains a software profile of each user and a user list of every software. Users can rate and review the software’s on the list.

Here is what you will see on my profile

Site also maintains a list of the top users based on their activities. Users can improve the “levels” assigned to them by performing certain tasks and gaining points.
Following is the list of levels that are assigned to each user

 Following is the points chart:

Lot of valuable information is being collected by Wakoopa. The snippets of information displayed at the bottom of each page shows how this information can be used to analyze user behavior.

Following are a few snippets I picked up from few page refresh

That’s sweet isn’t it? So, don’t be afraid of sharing your application information with millions of people on the internet and learn at the same time.

I don’t claim to be a prolific book reader but I guilt-fully do my bit to include myself in the list of book readers. One of the books I read few months ago is called “Never eat alone” by Keith Ferrazzi. Keith talks about how relationships and contacts can/should be used positively to achieve success at work or in personal life.

The book as I remember says “A network functions precisely because there is recognition of mutual need.” Much of what book says aptly applies to online definition of achieving success by using contacts.

It was easier to start a blog and be a successful blogger about 5 years ago than it is now. It’s become easier to start a blog but the later part has become tougher than ever. This is where your contacts and networking will help you take your blog to the next leave and gain popularity.

We have read about how important having a huge list of contacts on Digg, Stumbleupon, Twitter, or FriendFeed is but here is a new one. Sites like TopInews.com and DiggNow.org grow as your blog grows.

Sites like TopInews.com are fast becoming the hub of information. Such sites rely on the RSS feeds submitted by their respective webmasters to share information with the visitors with will eventually drives traffic to site.

This concept is not any different from Digg.com except from the fact that instead of submitting one story at a time you submit an RSS feed and once it is approved and accepted the articles are automatically published.

I have seen only two sites functioning on this concept. So register with these sites and drive traffic to your blogs. TopInews.com and DiggNow.org

Do you know any such sites?
