The Yahoo and Mircosoft partnership deal has quite been one of the interesting stories for the last few months. So what’s this about?

In plain terms, Microsoft is now friends with Yahoo and the duo will now share their resources mutually to give us the best of web search technology.

This means, that Yahoo will drop its search engine sword and will use Microsoft’s Search technology under the same popular sheath. Microsoft and Yahoo have been almost parallel in terms of technology in their own respects and their union seems to ignite the spark of a new dawn in web technologies.

The Yahoo and Microsoft deal is a 10 year agreement between Microsoft and Yahoo where Yahoo will incorporate Microsoft’s Bing Search Engine and in turn Microsoft will exercise limited number of human resources from Yahoo.

The Big Fight : Microsoft Vs Google / Yahoo Vs Google

Simply said, Yahoo will own and use Bing Search although the latter will obviously be powered by Microsoft. Perhaps, we say that Microsoft Bing will is now Yahoo Bing!

Earlier, Microsoft had attempted to engulf Yahoo as its subsidy and stated that the inhibition cost could be “millions”. But that did not go well and was postponed. As a result, the present collaboration came into existence.

“Through this agreement with Yahoo!, we will create more innovation in search, better value for advertisers and real consumer choice in a market currently dominated by a single company,” said Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.

The deal is a consequence of Yahoo’s long-cherished dream to remain the top most search engine by all good means. And since Microsoft has an innovative Bing Search Engine attributed to itself, will the Yahoo and Microsoft duo most possibly lead the way?

Click here to read the key terms of the Microsoft and Yahoo agreement.

Critical Appreciation:

Honest fact out, we would say that the internet commoners are hardly effected when deals of these types are practiced for most of them are orthodox and blindly stick to their favorite search engine.

Undoubtedly, Google is the most preferred search engine but the question is what will Google do now to save its esteem and ranking as the world’s most favorite search engine or will it kneel down to the fact that two heads are better than one.

It’s been a week since Bing is launched and we read how it is better than Microsoft’s previous efforts to make a mark in the search industry.

Every time a new search engine is launched the quality of the results is compared with Google, Yahoo, etc. its human to do that as 80% of the search users are used to Googling rather than Binging!

For this purpose Michael Kordahi has come up with a service which shows results from Yahoo, Google and Bing but does not show the name of the search engine, he called it Blind Search [link]. The page lets you vote for the best results after which it shows the name of the search engine.

This way the brand of the search engine does not make a difference as users don’t get to see which search engine they are voting for and trust me most often than not it’s a close call!

Blind Search initially showed the voting results however the developer took the results off as few users figured out a way to game the system.

From the last updates on the results, Google was leading with 43%, Bing 32% and Yahoo trailing with 25% votes.

I think Bing did pretty good for itself. Microsoft now has a good platform they can call "Search Engine", I hope to see them build on the existing technology.

Click here to visit Blind Search.

Microsoft launched its new search engine, Bing! As expected, it is making news for all the wrong reasons and to be fair I’ve also read good things about it on Twitter and Blogosphere. I personally would stick to it for a while and use it before writing it off.

TechCrunch published a post about how easy it is to find porn on Bing. At this point with the new search engine out in the market no publicity is bad publicity for Microsoft, in fact this could be one of the stunts to get people to use the search engine, after all porn is one of the top selling content on the internet.

Anyway, following the article on TechCrunch I clicked on the example query only to find out that my safe search is on and there is no option to disable it. Which simply means if you are from India you cannot turn the safe search settings OFF from the preferences page.

The safe search options are missing for Indian users..

But if you are from some other country you will get to turn the Safe Search options off.

There is a way to work around this issue, simply click on the <country> name next to the “Sign in” link and change your country to “United States” and boom you will see the option to turn the safe search OFF.

The option of turning the Safe Search OFF not only disappears for Indians but also other countries like Germany, Singapore, Turkey, etc..

HA! I don’t believe I just wrote a post on how to watch PORN!!

Bing!! That’s the name of the new search engine Microsoft is hoping to beat Google with. It’s not available for public use yet, but is schedule for launch on June 3rd, it replaces Live search.

One of the things I like about Microsoft is “Never say Die” attitude. People remotely familiar with search industry would know that this is not the first time Microsoft is trying to come up with something to put up a decent competition again Google and it certainly isn’t the last.

Bing takes a new approach to search and includes a lot of options to refine search and get to the result you want. For example searching for camera will also show you reviews, comparisons, best prices, cashback options, etc..

Just by the looks of it, it is certainly worth a try, in fact I encourage all our readers to try Bing as its important to encourage competition to keep the innovation going.

Well you can’t get your hands on Bing until 3rd of June but that should not stop you from watching the following video and see what improvements Bing offers over other search alternatives.
