Google launched chrome which is said to have taken significant market share. Microsoft didn&#8217;t wanted to stay behind and has launched a promising version of <a class="zem_slink" title="Internet Explorer" rel="homepage" href="http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/ie/default.mspx">Internet Explorer</a> in the form of <a class="zem_slink" title="Internet Explorer 8" rel="homepage" href="http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/ie/ie8/default.mspx">Internet Explorer 8</a> beta 2. However, should Microsoft launch an entire new browser built from scratch which is much lighter and embraces better technologies. Well, we would leave this discussion for another day.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">One of the most commonly used feature of any browser is <strong>Finding Text</strong> and frankly Internet Explorer&#8217;s find feature sucks big time. I mean shouldn&#8217;t such widely used feature be used in just one key stroke. But no Internet Explorer believes otherwise. To find something on a page rendered by IE takes more than one keystroke. Let&#8217;s see how typically the find box used to look in Internet Explorer till version 7.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span id="more-2008"></span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><a href="http://tnerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/iefind.png" rel="shadowbox[post-2008];player=img;"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2010" title="iefind" src="http://tnerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/iefind.png" alt="" width="404" height="157" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Now that puts a question mark on Microsoft&#8217;s User Interface design team/department. However, with IE 8 beta 2 there&#8217;s been some improvement. But still there is a very important feature missing. You cannot highlight all the places where the word/phrase appears.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><a href="http://tnerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/ie8find.png" rel="shadowbox[post-2008];player=img;"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2011" title="ie8find" src="http://tnerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/ie8find.png" alt="" width="500" height="51" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">So is there a solution to this? Yes, there is. Now you can get <a class="zem_slink" title="Mozilla Firefox" rel="geolocation" href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=45.1238,-123.1138&amp;spn=1.0,1.0&amp;q=45.1238,-123.1138%20%28Mozilla%20Firefox%29&amp;t=h">Firefox</a> style Find Feature. All you have to do is install Google <a class="zem_slink" title="Toolbar" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toolbar">Tool bar</a> 5 for Internet Explorer. You can get the toolbar <a href="http://toolbar.google.com/T5/intl/en/index.html">here</a>. Once installed your find feature will look something like this (Hit CTRL+F) :</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><a href="http://tnerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/ie8googlefind.png" rel="shadowbox[post-2008];player=img;"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2012" title="ie8googlefind" src="http://tnerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/ie8googlefind.png" alt="" width="500" height="47" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">If the Find bar from of Google toolbar is not activated you can do so by following the steps:</p>
<ol>
<li>Click the <strong>Adjust Toolbar option</strong> icon on your <a class="zem_slink" title="Google Toolbar" rel="homepage" href="http://toolbar.google.com/">Google Toolbar</a>.</li>
<li>Click the Tools tab in the <strong>Toolbar Options</strong> window.</li>
<li>Select the <strong>Find bar</strong> checkbox.</li>
<li>Click the <strong>Save</strong> button.</li>
</ol>
<p style="text-align: justify;">That&#8217;s it! Now you should be able to see the Firefox style Find functionality in Internet Explorer. Following is the video that shows the Find Feature of Google Toolbar 5 for Internet Explorer.</p>
