It (Google Audio) is aimed at bringing music streaming and free music downloads to the world, several web sources have confirmed it but Google. Google will be allegedly integrating direct music search and stream feature in its already dynamic Google Search. What does that mean? Simple, it is.

When you are searching for a song in Google, the incarnation of Google Audio will let you directly stream or listen to free music you have searched for besides allowing you to download (unconfirmed yet) the same directly from Google .

Google Audio is in collaboration with other three music giants including the social music discovery site iLike, LaLa and MySpace. This means, you’ll now be able to search for music and directly stream (or download) it from Google.

Maybe, Google Audio will include services for streaming music from Pandora and imeem or it may also include “buy” links to download music from Amazon. But sadly, even this is just an unconfirmed word (say rumor).

Official confirmations from Google or other parties involved in the web service have not surfaced yet, so, you’ll probably have to hold back for a little while, until Google Audio is on air (reported launch date is 28^th of October, this year).

Depending on the license each service has for a particular song, Google Audio’s playable search results will include either a 30-second sample or the entire song. Lala, for instance, already has licenses that allow visitors to third-party sites like Facebook, Pitchfork Media and Billboard to stream any of its 8.5 million songs once, in its entirety, for free, and will almost certainly do the same on Google.

Google already dominates the web world with about 70 percent of its shares for search engine and the launch of Google Audio will do nothing but improve Google’s market exponentially in embarking towards a musical future, hopes high, if they could integrate it with the Android OS for providing music services just like Apple iTunes does.

We are afraid you’ll have to wait until we garner more information on Google Audio from some official sources. I’m already sensing the Please don’t stop the music vibes. Are you?

The store currently offers a million tracks, 10,000 videos and about 25,000 ringtones. All of the digital material up for grabs is licensed by EMI, Sony Music and Warner Music Group.

As you know there is no such thing as free lunch, the Full tracks will cost about £1.5, £2 for a video and a ringtone comes for £3. You can access this service by visiting www.msn.co.uk from your mobile phone or just send an SMS to 63463 (remember U.K customers only). Each download will be charged to the next bill in case of a post-paid or will be deducted from the existing balance in case of pre-paid phones.

All popular smartphones including, iPhone, Blackberry, or any phone running on Symbian can access and use this service.

A research from Mulligan shows that only 9% of the U.K internet users use paid downloads where as 42% of the people preffer music CDs or DVDs. Also, the most popular streaming services used by U.K internet users are Last.fm, MySpace, iPlayer from BBC, etc.. and as musically notes the downloaded songs from MSN U.K are not DRM free and can only be played on the mobile where the songs were originally downloaded.

Keeping all these things in mind it certainly will be interesting to see if the music downloads from MSN gains any popularity.

This one is called LastSharp, by Dev.xscheme.de, it lets you download music from Last.fm. All you need to have is a ‘free’ account at Last.fm and you are ready to download your favorite music.

The software not only downloads the desired music but it also downloads the albumart and organizes by artist – album – song kind of hierarchy.

The software is developed by a German developer so the default language is Deutsch but don’t worry, follow the steps discussed in the article to change it to English.

Following steps will run through the process of changing the default language and downloading songs.

Launch the software once the download is complete (Download from here)

Now that’s what the first screen looks like..

Click on the second tab at the bottom of the window and then click on the dropdown and select “English”. Now restart the application to see the changes.

You can search for music based on several criteria’s as shown in the picture below. Just select anyone of them and type in a keyword in the box and hit “Go” to start searching.

Now you will see a list of songs, simply right-click on the song you want to download and hit “Download”

This is the download area. It shows a list of songs already downloaded under “Last Downloads:” and information about the song that is being currently downloaded.

To avoid the process of right-clicking on each of the songs to download, go to the “Quick Settings” tab and check “Continue Downloading automatically” box to download the songs on the list one after another automatically.

Also take a look at the settings under “Advanced Settings” tab were you can select if you want to save covers, remember downloads, etc..

During our review we found SoundCloud extremely easy to use and feature rich which makes listening to music online a good experience.

One thing we mentioned in our SoundCloud Review was that it would be great if the service figures out a way to make money for sustainability. Though we do not think charing the users directly is the greatest way of making money but for a serivice like SoundCloud I wouldn’t mind paying an extra buck.

According to the reports, Kid Rock issued these statements when one of the recording companies requested him to issue a statement against illegal downloads, thats when Kid Rock suggested that he is better off users stealing his music than recording companies or online music services, which sell the music and do not pay the artist accordingly. He is one of the artists who refuses to put his music on iTunes.

While I believe entertainment industry is still looking for the best model to do business online, this could very well spark off arguments between artists, recording companies and online music services.

Internet has changed us for better in many ways. Artists can put up their own site and start selling their music, Radio heads tried a new model with a album release back in 2007 where downloaders were in control of the price and 38% ended up paying for the music.
