Currently there are close to 150 blogs in various categories. Showcase includes blogs like TechCrunch, Reuters Blog, Larry King LIve, Time’s The Page.

This is a good way of showcasing popular blogs but it also says a lot of WordPress as a platform. It shows how popular and strong WordPress is and most of the industry leaders preffer WordPress for as their blogging platform.

Click here to visit the Showcase and if you don’t see your favorite blog in one of the categories you can suggest a blog to be included in WordPress Showcase.

We all love wordpress. I have tried various various blogging platforms from blogger to drupal to movable type to Joomla and others, but eventually I ended up using wordpress. Even for my photo blog I use wordpress just because I love the versatility. However, I have also tried PixelPost for photo blogging and I must say it’s very close to wordpress but not quite there (and this is just my point of view). One great thing about wordpress is the community that develops, supports and gives so many options to make your blog look almost unique in design and look and feel. And if there have been themes developed for any blogging platfarm, wordpress themes are by far too many in comparison to any of it’s counterparts. There are almost unlimited themes and blogs dedicated to only providing wordpress themes. As a matter of fact, I just came to know that there is an online service that helps you develop theme on the fly. No! I am not talking about coding tutorials to develop wordpress theme. I am talking about a service where you just select a few option and hit just download the theme followed by uploading it on your wordpress directory and activating it.

What we are going to see today is a service that gives you the liberty to create your own theme on the fly with almost no effort! This service is called as Wordpress Theme Generator and is pretty handful in creating unique themes for your blog absolutely free.

Following is what the service has to offer:

This online generator creates your own custom unique WordPress Theme. Without any need for HTML, JS, PHP, or CSS knowledge. Change the colors, settings, layout, preview live, click “save” and download your unique Wordpress theme zip-file. Extract, upload, set, and you are done!

Based on WordPress 2.1 to 2.5 with Yahoo! UI (grids, tabs & fonts) to support all A-Grade browsers and valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional. Theme supports Widgets & Tags.

I was wondering after seeing the site that wordpress should support the project by bringing it under the umbrella of automattic.
