<p>This was the first time I attended <font color="#ffcc00"><a href="http://tnerd.com/tag/barcamp/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Barcamp">Barcamp</a> at Hyderabad</font>. 3 <a href="http://tnerd.com/tag/barcamp/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Barcamp">Barcamp</a>&#8217;s have been held in hyderabad so far. 3rd <a href="http://tnerd.com/tag/barcamp/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Barcamp">Barcamp</a> was held at Infosys, the previous one was at Microsoft. <br /><span id="more-297"></span><br />Here is the schedule (Courtesy:<font color="#ffcc00">Sasidhar.org</font>)<br /><img width="211" height="315" border="0" align="bottom" src="http://tnerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/12/barcamp3schedule.JPG" alt="Barcamp3 Schedule" /></p>
<p>The day was packed with lot of interesting and thought provoking presentations. With each presentation we saw how Web 2.0 is evolving and the trends in the industry. We also discussed about the differences in the last Internet bubble and the current bubble (if there is one!). Lot of comments flew around and few of them suggested that Communities and the Advertising revenue model will save the DOT COM&#8217;s from crashing this time around!</p>
<p><font color="#ffcc00"><strong>Ramesh</strong></font> kicked off the third <a href="http://tnerd.com/tag/barcamp-hyderabad/" class="st_tag internal_tag" rel="tag" title="Posts tagged with Barcamp Hyderabad">Barcamp Hyderabad</a> by talking about Web 2.0 and different companies launched their products based on Web 2.0 concept. One of the products he specifically mentioned was Gmail and how it was launched in Web 2.0 style with the &quot;viral&quot; invitation based approach, though he concluded by saying<font color="#ffcc00"> Gmail</font> is not a Web 2.0 anymore (agreed!).</p>
<p>That&rsquo;s Ramesh for you! <font color="#ffcc00">Click on the Play button to here Ramesh&#8217;s presentatio</font>n <a href="http://tnerd.com/files/barcamp/Rajesh.mp3" rel="shadowbox[post-297];player=flv;width=500;height=0;">.</a></p>
<p>It was time for my favorite presentation of the day, <font color="#ffcc00">DimDim</font>! <font color="#ffcc00">DimDim</font> offers an installation free web meeting service for absolutely nothing, isn&rsquo;t that freaking great! It is amazing to see how DimDim uses the browser resources to offer this service. This is not very different from Webex, however DimDim is for free which makes it even better. I loved the product and I am sure you will hear it roar once it&#8217;s launched. </p>
<p><font color="#ffcc00">Bharath</font> started the talk and later <font color="#ffcc00">Deodhar</font>(CEO of <font color="#ffcc00">DimDim</font>) took over to answer the queries from the audience. The first picture is of Bharath and the second one is of Deodhar.&nbsp; <font color="#ffcc00">Click on the Play button to hear DimDim&#8217;s presentation</font><a href="http://tnerd.com/files/barcamp/Bharat-DimDim.mp3" rel="shadowbox[post-297];player=flv;width=500;height=0;"> .</a><br /><img border="0" align="left" src="http://tnerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/12/bharath.jpg" alt="Bharath" /><img border="0" align="bottom" src="http://tnerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/12/dimdim.jpg" alt="Ganguli" /></p>
<p><font color="#ffcc00">Kapil</font> presented <font color="#ffcc00">SlideShare.net</font>. Do I even have to tell you what SlideShare.net is? If yes, then you should probably stop reading this article here! cos every techie on the internet know what <font color="#ffcc00">SlideShare</font> is all about.</p>
<p>I loved the <font color="#ffcc00">SlideShare </font>service; I was (hopefully) among few of the first bloggers who mentioned <font color="#ffcc00">SlideShare</font>. </p>
<p>Here is Kapil! Click on the Play button to here Kapil&#8217;s (<font color="#ffcc00">SlideShare.net</font>) presentation. <a href="http://tnerd.com/files/barcamp/Kapil-SlideShare.mp3" rel="shadowbox[post-297];player=flv;width=500;height=0;">.</a><br /><img border="0" align="left" src="http://tnerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/12/kapil4.jpg" alt="Kapil" /><img border="0" align="left" src="http://tnerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/12/kapil2.jpg" alt="" /><img border="0" align="bottom" src="http://tnerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/12/kapil1.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p>Next was <font color="#ffcc00">Jankiram</font> from Microsoft. He presented <font color="#ffcc00">Live Messenger</font> and how it evolved from the previous messengers and how exactly is Live different from its previous versions. </p>
<p>He spoke about how automated BOT&#8217;s can help the users and can be the best FAQ guides ever (I totally agree on this one).</p>
<p>I never heard him saying that this is a revolutionary technology Microsoft is offering (or did I? Whatever!) But any avid IRC user would know about BOT&#8217;s concept since the birth of <font color="#ffcc00">DALnet</font> in mid 1994. Never the less it&rsquo;s a Good concept. <font color="#ffcc00">Click on the Play button to hear Jankiram&#8217;s presentation</font> <a href="http://tnerd.com/files/barcamp/Jankiram-LiveMessenger.mp3" rel="shadowbox[post-297];player=flv;width=500;height=0;">.</a></p>
<p><img border="0" align="left" src="http://tnerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/12/jankiram.jpg" alt="" /><img border="0" align="bottom" src="http://tnerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/12/jankiram2.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p>Next to come was <font color="#ffcc00">Jay</font>, from <font color="#ffcc00">Pramati</font>. He spoke about how desktop based applications are better than web based applications. He pointed out to the fact how we upload all our data on the Internet on different sites and later loose a track or the uploaded data becomes so HUGE that it is virtually impossible to later download or to change the service. </p>
<p>Within NO time people started commenting and questioning his logic and idea around the whole web based services. </p>
<p>I personally think it is a GREAT thought to have all of my data on my computer yet share it with the rest of the world. However this idea was not presented properly to the audience because of which the whole discussion was around how Web is better instead of what could be the ideal solution!</p>
<p>That&rsquo;s Jay&hellip;&nbsp; <font color="#ffcc00">Click on the Play button to hear Jay&#8217;s presentation</font> <a href="http://tnerd.com/files/barcamp/Jay-Pramati.mp3" rel="shadowbox[post-297];player=flv;width=500;height=0;">.</a><br /><img border="0" align="bottom" src="http://tnerd.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/12/jay.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p>There were couple of presentations after that and one of them was<font color="#ffcc00"> Venu Gopal</font> from <font color="#ffcc00">SlideShare</font> team who spoke about Ruby and how it is making waves in the web technologies. <font color="#ffcc00">Click on the Play button to hear Venu&#8217;s presentation</font> <a href="http://tnerd.com/files/barcamp/VenuGopal-Java-Ruby.mp3" rel="shadowbox[post-297];player=flv;width=500;height=0;">.</a></p>
<p>The other presentation was about the <font color="#ffcc00">Web 2.0 acid test</font>. This basically talked about what exactly is Web 2.0 and how we can identify Web 2.0 from a typical Web 1.0. <font color="#ffcc00">Click on the Play button to hear Venu&#8217;s presentation</font> <a href="http://tnerd.com/files/barcamp/Acid-Test-Cordys.mp3" rel="shadowbox[post-297];player=flv;width=500;height=0;">.</a></p>
<p>Another one was from the same team (<font color="#ffcc00">Cordys</font>) and it talked about Web 2.0. <font color="#ffcc00">Click here to hear the presentation</font> <a href="http://tnerd.com/files/barcamp/Cordy-Web2.mp3" rel="shadowbox[post-297];player=flv;width=500;height=0;">.</a></p>
<p>Note: I do not have recordings of all the presentations but this is most of it!</p>
