The new Archos Internet Media Tablet will have all the “functionalities of a premium smart phone” as well as it will provide you complete entertainment and “PC-like” web-browsing experience.

What’s internet browsing without flash support? The people at Archos know it better and for the same reason they have been integrating Adobe Flash and Flash Video support in their Internet Media Tablets. So, this one has got it too.

Plus, you can watch your favorite TV shows and even record them in HD quality without missing an episode right on your Archos Internet Media Tablet and play them back in almost all formats.

If this is not enough, watch innumerous movies from up to 500GB of storage space (against a max of 250GB on Archos 5 and 320GB on Archos 7) or get on-demand access to Archos’ multimedia library. It will take you through 7 hrs of non-stop video playback on one battery charge, so that obviously means improved battery life.

The Archos Android Internet Media Tablet will support 3.5G (7.2MBpS) HSUPA network, so you can still be connected to your workplace or home while losing yourself in the rich entertainment experience at the same time.

Speaking about its form factor, it is not much different from the Archos 5 and Archos 7. It is an ultra-thin tablet (measures just 10mm) that is powered by an OMAP3440 processor based on ARM and DSP microprocessor technology.

The Archos Android will hit the markets on September 15 this year for an undisclosed price.

It is a 9” tablet PC that weighs as less as 800gms and is incredibly slim (256mm x 134mm x 16mm) so you will never mind carrying it with you, no matter where you are heading. It wears a bright and sharp multi-touch display on the front with a screen resolution of 1024×600 pixels.

The resistive touch screen can be accessed using fingers or the stylus that hides in the side frame of the tablet for rendering more precision to your access. Unlike the earlier Archos internet tablets, the Archos 9 runs a fully functional Microsoft Windows 7 OS, plays HD video, and has a SIM card slot on the left side that accepts a HSDPA SIM.

The Archos 9 is the first tablet from Archos which sans keyboard and sports a fully functional on-screen touch keyboard which pops out just at the click of a button on the frame. However, you can still plug in a USB keyboard into the USB port at its left bottom for your typing convenience.

It has a 1.3MP web camera, so you can indulge yourself into a video conference with your clients on the move. The built in stereo speakers are good enough to watch a movie or listen to some favorite songs from the 80GB built in HDD without the need of external speakers, unless you desire. Or just use its Diversity (dual) TV tuner for watching your favorite TV Shows and news.

It is powered by an Intel Atom Z515 (800/1200MHZ) CPU and offers connectivity options like Bluetooth, Ethernet 10/100 and a VGA out port and also comes with 3G support. No wonder why they call it ‘fully-tactile mini PC’.  Details on battery life and further specifications are due to be officially announced.

The Archos 9 will be available in Europe from October this year at around the same time when Microsoft releases Windows 7 OS and is supposedly priced at €450 ($635). A bigger 12” version of the Archos Mini PC is also expected to be launched in the coming months.

Archos 9 is very much similar to the gadget TechCrunch is working on, CrunchPad. It certainly looks similar but does not have as many features and coast’s half as much. CrunchPad is still a work in progress and there is no news about the launch yet.
