Motorola has officially announced its first Android-based smartphone at a media event in San Francisco this thursday. It’s the Motoroloa CLIQ, which was earlier popularly hyped as Morrison.

The brand new Motorola Cliq will feature a Google OS, the Android 1.5 (also known as Cupcake) and Motorola specific MotoBlur technology as the extreme highlights.

The Motorola Cliq is side slider phone, just like the Nokia N97. A 3.1” HVGA touch screen display gets you a resolution of 320×480 pixels while the wide screen gets more useful with the advent of MotoBlur tecnology. It also features a 5MP auto-focus camera with video recording and geo tagging capabilities.

Listen to rejunevating music from its library using its built in music player or use the video player to relive the fun. It comes with 2GB memory which is expandable to up to 32GB using a microSD card, which is quite good enough for any entertainment hungry freak.

When it comes to connectivity, the Motorola Cliq is not at all short of options. Connectivity opitons include 3G, EDGE Class 12, GPRS Class 12, Wi-Fi and aMicroUSB port for data transfer, which is quite an absolute number for a quad band enabled smart phone.

To ease the web experience, a full HTML browser and Android Webkit are also packed in while applications like YouTube, Shazan, Imeem come preloaded with the box.

Blessed by the google OS, the Motorola Cliq runs numerous services which include Google Voice Search, Google Maps With Street View, Google Market Place, Gtalk and Picasa, besides supporting your favorite email clients such as Yahoo, Windows Live and other IMAP and POP3 services.

It is also designed to effectively sync with Microsoft Exchange and the preloaded QucikOffice Suite will ease the load of your documentation work.

Now, lets talk about the MotoBlur feature, it’s actually the Motoblur User Interface which gives you a customizable homescreen to constantly stream info and alerts from your favorite social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, My Space, etc.

The customizable widgets will always keep you updated about everything you’ll ever need to know, be it the weather forecast or the breaking news and updates from your friends or incoming mails.

The Motion Blur is pretty useful as a security feature also. It also helps you trace your lost phone using a GPS and even wipe off data remotely from your lost phone to ensure privacy. A full charge on battery should be delivering a talk time of up to 6 hours and up to 13.5 days on standby, hopefully.

The MotoCliq will be available through Tmobile in titanium white or winter white colors when it is released (in Nov. 2009, in other parts of the world under the name Dext). Price and date of launch are unavailable yet.

The first in the series, the ‘Chocolate’ was released way back in July 2006 first through Verizon Wireless.

Soon after the demands nearly overflowed the anticipated statistics, LG decided to build an empyrean range of similar handsets which were selectively distinct in their functionalities and form factors. This was followed by LG Shine and LG Secret immediately after its wild fire success.

Then to keep the tradition going and to make a distinction, the LG Chocolate BL40 comes into the picture. What’s so special? The first thing you will notice about the phone is its extra wide 4” inch display (1” wider than my PSP actually) and almost equal to the Nokia E90 display.

The LG Chocolate BL40 is beautifully slim and all loaded to draw attention instantly like one has just witnessed a pretty supernatural being rising out of your pockets and the serenity of its look speaks for it.

The LG Black Series BL40 : I love Chocolate!

The “Real VGA” screen is protected by tempered glass and displays crisp images and appealing videos at 800×345 pixels. Presumptively, the new LG Chocolate comes with an accelerometer function that senses the alignment of the phone and changes the display to landscape or portrait accordingly (check out video below for the hint).

Well, this makes it a really good thing when it comes to watching movies or using its seemingly comfortable on screen QWERTY keyboard. The 21:9 screen aspect ratio renders a panoramic, cinema-like quality and optimal mobile computing experience.

The 5MP camera on the back is really worthy of your attention again. It takes quick shots brilliantly with little ease while the front facing VGA camera supports my assertion of included 3G support into the Chocolate.

Featured among others is a full browser support for email, Bluetooth 2.0 (as it appears on the icons in the image), internet surfing on HSDPA 7.2 MBps or quick connect with Wi-Fi. There are a couple of rumored features that include a built in memory of some 335MB which can be integrated with an optional microSD card.

The LG BL40 Chocolate comes with an active flash UI (seems like the cover-flow gallery) which is really a good factor to utilize the phone’s multi touch functionality. The Dual Screen UI lets you use two screens side by side which can be used to perfrom different functions in parallel. For example, you can check your mail and browse the web at the same time on the other part of the screen.

Because LG is wise enough, they did confine the phone’s functionality to just entertainment zone, for that reason, an A-GPS system will always be at your disposal to assist you with the geography, as and when you demand.

“The initial response to the new LG Chocolate phone has exceeded our expectations by a wide margin,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications. “Although much interest seems focused on the striking shape of the handset, the real surprise will be when people discover the advantages of the 4.0-inch screen in terms of viewing pleasure and ease of use.”

The Black Series LG Chocolate (BL40) will be availabe in around 54 countries starting from Q3. However, there were no official confirmations on its price and further specifications.
