Computing processor manufacturing giant Intel and world leader in search engine technology, Google are gearing up to step into the TV industry, while Sony’s expertise in TV technology will unify their services.

Google TV will employ a set-top box based open-sourced Android operating system, which will allow web services like web search via a specially designed version of Google Chrome browser, youtube videos viewing, twitter on TV and other such interactive web services.

An article in New York Times suggested that Google is hiring programmers to write apps for Google TV, pretty much the same way they are written for Android-based phones.

The write up also reveals that Google has already borne a Google TV prototype. More or less, Google is attempting to merge the set top box into the TV set and make a web TV console, to eliminate the need of using multiple devices for the cause.

Logitech, is developing a tiny keyboard for  interacting with the Google TV, among other peripherals, which would perhaps, include a mouse or a touchpad utility, while Sony will introduce a new subsidy-branding specifically for this Google Android TV.

Like we said earlier, Android is spreading its  immediately-acceptable presence to almost all digital platforms in existence, at a remarkably faster pace and Google too will surf these tides.

Google TV : Interactive TV Services

Google is expanding its wings to bless us with interactive TV services that would only  refashion its universally-prestigious and invincible image as the world leader in search engine technology, mobile phone communication and interactive web services.

Yahoo TV widgets, were a decent competition to the Google’s TV services, that were employed on some of the leading television brands including  Samsung, LG and Vizio’s services. On the other hand, it is reported that Apple has “no interest in being in the TV market.”

We’d rather indulge with the rest of the crowd that detests this statement. If Apple has no interest in being in the TV market, why then did it introduce Apple TV to us?

Also, it’s been Apple’s one of the strongest strategies to keep its gadget-launch-plans undercover until the time is right to create a hype that the world will follow like the rats to a Pied-Piper. And who knows, if Apple is planning an attack to counter Google’s move, we are sure things would get pretty much interesting.

While Google tries to webtimize your TV,  we’ll do our homework to fish out more of this. There’s definitely a lot more to come. Stay tuned.

Most users like us who do not want to be limited by the restrictions Apple has put in place look forward to these patches which can break free from the restrictions.

Joshua Hill, part of the Chronic-Dev, hacks iPhones to develop and release software that help iPhone users jailbreak their phones. Greenpois0n is one of their releases which jailbreaks iPod Touch 3G and 3GS.

A recent tweet from Joshua claims that he can start working on software for jailbreaking iPad OS 3.2 but he wants his followers to donate enough money to buy an iPad.

This tweet went out about 22 hours ago and the donations have hit close to $100. He also tweeted a screenshot which shows his software that originally supports jailbreaking iPhone and iPod touch will also support jailbreaking iPad 3.2.

It is amazing what an iPhone, iPod touch and now iPad can do without restrictions. There are some obvious downsides to jailbreaking because the applications are not check for optimization, vulnerability, etc… these gadgets face issues like low battery time, frequent crashing, hacking, etc.. but usually advantages like, ProSwitcher for Multitasking, Live Video Broadcast (Before it hit appstore), Google Voice, BTStack, etc

These are just a few examples of what you can do with a jailbreaked iPhone or iPad. Given that the iPad has  a bigger screen, it can be put to a lot of other uses as well. Looking forward to the amazing applications that will be developed for Jailbreaked iPad’s.

Nexus One is known to be the most advanced android phone till date (it’s a reasonable argument that HTC Desire is a better handset as it is mostly based on Nexus One’s improvements.)  and coming from Google, it had the “iPhone Killer” tag attached to it. Nexus One was expected to do a lot better than all the other Android phones because of its initial hype and the fact that it was Google’s first handset launch.

Flurry recently released data which showed Nexus One sold 135,000 handsets as oppose to 1 million Generation One iPhone’s sold in the same period after its launch, i.e. 74 Days. Why 74 Days you may ask! Flurry picked 74 days as the number because that’s how long it took Apple to sell 1 million iPhones after its first launch which has now become the benchmark.

These numbers also include a few thousand free phones that were given to Googlers around the world as part of the Dog food drive. Though it might not be a significant number, it does have an effect when a company ends up selling 135,000 phones only.

Though it might not sound like a fair comparison between Nexus One and iPad as one is a mobile phone and the other, so called “Tablet”, day 1 pre-order sales of iPad only goes to show the brand value and product popularity Apple enjoys in consumer electronic market.

On the other hand, Motorola’s Droid surprised everyone with its sale of 1.05 million phones in the same time. Flurry points the 3 possible reasons as to how Motorola managed to beat Apple to its initial sales numbers.

1. Consumer Perseption & Demand
2. Relative Subscriber Base: Verizon has a considerable larger user base than compared to AT&T
3. Holiday Season Sales:  The other two phones from Apple and Google were not launched around the holiday season nor did the 74 day period cover the holiday season, only Motorola’s Droid did.

This is just the beginning of the Mobile wars between the tech giants. Next time flurry comes out with a similar graph I am sure we will have Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 7 as one of the contenders.

Apple, by all natural means, decided to launch the iPad first in US, just the place where more Apple products have had their launches. Obviously, after the April 3 ipad launch in US, Apple will, as promised, spread the iPad business to other nations.
