“Welcome to my personal blog. While is a play on googol, too is a play on the much smaller number – two. It also means "in addition", as this blog reflects my life outside of work.”

That’s what the first post reads and he decides to write about everything other than work. I am sure there are millions of us who are deeply inspired with Sergey’s vision and success would also be interested in knowing a little bit about his personal life too.

Sergey talks about his mother and Parkinson’s disease and how he has decades to prepare for his old age. I am certainly looking forward to read and know more of Sergey on his blog.

has become the #1 user-friendly linux desktop OS in less than 2 years! Best of all, like all Linux distributions released under the GPL/GNU license, it’s free. (Yes, you read it right.)

On a personal level, I’ve been using since Breezy Badger.. and after having used RedHat, Slackware, Knoppix, Gentoo, and also FreeBSD, I have to say is a very calming, and a satisfying Linux distro that _will_ capture your heart, and time. If you’ve always put away Linux, but you still want to stay in the loop with what’s hot, and learn a little about Linux down the lane in an easy and fun way… is the answer. For newbies, and experts alike, has proven to be an amazing distro which can be a regular desktop, or a bastion of a server.

Today, released it’s latest version, codenamed Edgy Eft (6.10) as an update to it’s predecessor Dapper Drake (6.06). Install shouldn’t be a problem at all if you get the alternate install ISO. Check it out and good luck!

The wait has finally come to an end! The Mozilla Foundation has launched a major and most-awaited update to it’s widely popular and free open source browser, .. in form of 2.0.

As most of you may probably know, IE7 was going to be released almost around the same time as 2.0. A little late, but you know what they say about slow turtles!  As a small and early christmas gift, Mozilla also changed the look of their website a teeny weeny bit.

Clash of the titans. Reviews will be all over the place with comparisons between IE7 and FF2 in a matter of hours. Go get yourself some 2.0!

This article will show you how to use Universal Gadgets without having Desktop installed on the computer. As Videos is my favorite I will walk you through the steps of installing Videos Gadget on the desktop!

Here is an overview of what we are about to do.
First we will create a .html page with one of the Universal Gadget’s code in it and save it somewhere on the computer. Next we will go to Display properties and Desktop and browse to the location and select the .html file with Universal Gadget’s code we created earlier. That’s it! You will see the Gadget on your desktop now.

Mentioned below are detailed steps to install Gadgets on the desktop.

  • Open Notepad
  • Now copy the below mentioned code and paste it in notepad or Click here to download the .HTML file.

  • In notepad click on File > Save As > and the "File Name" should be something.html ".html" is important, file can be named anything but the extension should always be ".html"
  • Right click on the Desktop > Properties > Desktop > Browse > Change the "File Type" to "HTML Documents" and browse to the location you have saved the newly created .html file and doubleclick on it.
  • Click OK!

NOTE: If you see "Formatting" error after completign the steps make sure there are no SPACE’s starting from <script src= ………> and ending with </script>. Make sure there are no spaces in that line of code or just download the .HTML file

Here is what my desktop looks like after performing the steps mentioend above: I just have one Icon on my Desktop! The fun part is every time you refresh your desktop you will see a new video. Just click on play button and it will start playing on the desktop, refresh the desktop and watch a new video. Click here to browse through 100’s of Google Gadgets. This was the basic implementation; however you can use webpage editing software to properly align the Gadget on the desktop. This can also be done using Windows Active Desktop in Windows XP (But I like this method better!)

Couple of things to keep in mind:

  • The steps above are performed on Windows XP they might or might not work on other O/S.
  • Some of the Gadgets might or might not work, I haven’t tested with many
