Who better to rock the boat at Disney’s Jungle Cruise than Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson!
Disney’s latest venture, a movie based on their famous Disneyland theme park attraction, the Jungle Cruise, is set to sail with Dwayne Johnson on board as the lead actor. This movie is ideal for Johnson given his affinity to speeding cars and rouge helicopters in his previous films.
One of Disneyland’s original rides, Jungle Cruise is immensely popular with the thousands of visitors that flock daily to the park. It’s adventurous theme and a riverboat cruise through the heart of Africa, Nile and Congo river with Lions, Rhinos, Hippos and even tribal headhunting warriors and hungry, snapping Amazon piranhas along the way, gives the most authentic jungle river cruise feel to the visitors and its popularity is easily measured by the mile-long lines at the ticket counter!
Disney has been trying to make a movie on the ride since 2004, the last attempt being a project involving writer Roger S.H. Schulman and actors Tom Hanks and Tim Allen. This time however, the company has signed up a contract with writers John Requa and Glenn Ficarra of “Focus” fame (Will Smith’s heist film) to prepare the script while wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson will star in the lead role. Apart from this, not much about the movie has been revealed and all we can do is wait for the information to trickle down as Disney finally prepares for a long-time pet movie project.
