Barely six months after she was found half-drowned at her Atlanta, Georgia home on January 31, the Houston family revealed news of Bobbi Kristina Brown’s death at the tender age of 22 in an Atlanta hospice.
In a statement the Houston family said, “Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away Sunday, July 26 2015, surrounded by her family. She is finally at peace in the arms of God. We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months.”
Bobbi, the only daughter of famous singers Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston, was discovered unconscious and face down in her bathtub and was put under critical care where she went into a medically induced coma after it was discovered that she had lost a major part of her brain function. Bobbi had been in depression after her mother Whitney Houston’s death in February 2012. Investigations however ruled out any foul play, terming it as a medical emergency. However investigations were opened against Bobbi’s boyfriend Nick Gordon, raised alongside Bobbi from the age of 12, who had found her drowned in the tub and was sued for $10million later when it was discovered that he withdrew $11,000 from her account while she was in coma.
Following the tragic news of her passing away, not only fans but also some of Hollywood’s biggest names, including Viola Davis, Ava DuVernay, Oprah Winfrey, Missy Elliot, Boy George, Kylie Jenner, Snoop Dogg, Leona Lewis etc sent in their condolences via Twitter.
Bobbi’s case was strangely similar to that of her mother Whitney who was found drowned dead, in the same face down position, in her room at the Beverly Hilton, California on February 11, 2012, (the eve of the Grammy Awards) due to an alleged drug overdose. Witney had already divorced her husband Bobby Brown in 2007. The mother-daughter duo was usually seen together on events and award shows and Bobbi was aspiring to be a singer like her renowned mother.
