Windows 8.1 is the first colossal update to Microsoft Windows 8 ever since its recent release.

Windows 8.1 features a ton of new features and improvements with more personalization for your Windows 8 device including static color as well as new live wallpapers, Bing Smart Search, the ability to take pictures from the lock screen, more options to resize tiles, unified search and Internet Explorer 11 among others.

Consumers with Windows 8 devices can free download Windows 8.1 to upgrade their devices while others with older versions of Windows can choose to purchase Windows 8 installation media from either retail or online stores.

Non-Windows 8 customers are advised to purchase a DVD installation media to ensure a thorough install of Windows 8 on their older operating systems since the online version available for download will include a packaged update required to just  update Windows 8 to the new version.
