Here’s The First Demonstration Of How You Can Use iOS 6 Passbook App In The Real World [Video]!
Apple announced an amazing new feature during the iOS 6 launch ceremony at WWDC 2012. It’s called the Passbook. Apple iOS Passbook, as the name goes, is a digital dossier for all your digital coupons, and tickets.
It can hold all your boarding passes, retail coupons and loyalty cards among other things in a very organized manner and presents them to you, when you need it. Since its time and location aware, your coupons will appear when you need them. On time. Even when the device is locked.
While Apple refrained from disclosing details on how it plans to use iOS Passbook in the future, an IT company by the name iOptimal has gone ahead and presented its Passbook App Prototyper using an iOS simulator demonstrating how we can actually use iOS Passbook feature in the real world. Video follows.
Without much ado, here’s what did used iOS 6 Passbook app for.
Apple briefly explains the iOS Passbook feature as follows:
“Your boarding passes, movie tickets, retail coupons, loyalty cards, and more are now all in one place. With Passbook, you can scan your iPhone or iPod touch to check in for a flight, get into a movie, and redeem a coupon. You can also see when your coupons expire, where your concert seats are, and the balance left on that all-important coffee bar card.
Wake your iPhone or iPod touch, and passes appear on your Lock screen at the appropriate time and place — like when you reach the airport or walk into the store to redeem your gift card or coupon. And if your gate changes after you’ve checked in for your flight, Passbook will even alert you to make sure you’re not relaxing in the wrong terminal.”

I love this video.
This is a great example of how Passbook is going to help loads of consumers and loads of small business. You can even 'push updates' to the device's lock screen as a consumer gets close to a shop or when something changes on the pass. Very cool. If you have iOS6 Beta on your iPhone and would like to try our the PassKit API for free - enabling you to push updates for example - then simply visit http://PassK.it/samples and download the Starbucks Pass to get your API Key and Password.
