Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play And Xperia Arc Now Available In India [Video]!

Sony Ericsson’s Xperia family of phones just got a little bigger in the Indian peninsula. Following the international release in February this year, Sony Ericsson today unveiled the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play and Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc Android handsets in India.

Gracing the launch were Pawan Chadha, Country Head for Sony Ericsson with actress Chitrangada Singh in New Delhi on Thursday. Both the Xperia phones come preloaded with Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, amazing multimedia capabilities and a plethora of interesting features paired with substantial technical specifications.

Touted as the Sony PlayStation Phone, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play features a 4” capacitive touchscreen display with multi-touch support, a slide-out 11-button gamepad area with large touchpad, about 400MB of internal memory and support expandable memory of up to 32GB using a microSD card.

It has a five megapixel camera, a powerful 1GHz processor flanked by an Adreno 205 GPU, 1GB of ROM, 512MB of RAM, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi connectivity, FM radio with RDS, onboard GPS, and Android 2.3 OS with TimeScape UI.

The Xperia Play Android phone comes with preloaded games and will allow users to play PSOne games (classic ports) that are reportedly available for download via the Android Market.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is a relatively slick device with beautiful aesthetics and a slightly bigger display which measures at 4.2”. Sony Ericsson labels this capacitive multi-touch display as Reality Display and uses the Mobile Bravia Engine that’s an abstract from Sony’s Bravia line up of TVs.

Xperia Arc outperforms Xperia Play in terms of camera specs as it features an 8.1 megapixel camera with Sony Exmor R image sensor. It has 320MB of internal memory, 512MB of RAM, 1GHz processor with Adreno 205 GPU, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi connectivity, onboard GPS and much more.

The official in India is INR 32,000 while the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is listed as INR 35,000. Both the devices are already available through online retailer FlipKart for a discounted price with an 8GB microSD card and a bunch of other goodies to sweeten the deal.
