Samsung’s first-ever tablet PC running the sensational Android 2.2 OS is now official. Following the footsteps of several other Android tablets that launched in the recent months, the Samsung Galaxy Tab is all set to claim its berth in the armory of Android tablets and of course will compete against the stunningly powerful Apple iPad.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab features an elegant design that sagely packs a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen display with multitouch support, Android 2.2 Froyo with Samsung User interface, a 3 megapixel primary camera with LED flash paired with a front-facing 1.3 MP camera that encourages video calling.
Under the sleek form factor, a 1GHZ Application processor takes solace and comfortably powers the Android 2.2 Froyo with a custom Samsung user interface and also allows you to swiftly exercise support for Adobe Flash 10.1, 1080p HD video recording and playback, and homescreen customizations.
Besides this, this Samsung tablet PC savors integrated email with Gmail and MS Exchange Active Sync, Google services integration including Google Maps, Latitude, Places and Google Maps Navigation (beta). The 16:9 TFT WSVGA display also allows you to use the device as an eReader. Of course, you have a bunch of downloadable ebook reading apps from Android Market which can be consumed by the device.
Not to mention, you can download a plethora of apps from Samsung Apps or Android Market for you super-cool Galaxy tablet. There’s onboard GPS integration, SWYPE keyboard, hybrid widgets, a SIM card slot, a 3.5 mm audio jack, USB ports and much more.
Not just this, Samsung’s planning to compete with Apple the BIG way and for the same reason, the device will be launching on four different carriers at a relatively subsidized price. It is also worth noting that the hardware and features may slightly vary with the carrier you choose.
