Toshiba SmartPad Android Tablet To Be Showcased At IFA 2010?

Almost every day, we hear of a tablet PC – either in the form of inchoate rumors or nascent leaks, very rarely in official announcements. And now, we have caught wind of Toshiba Corporation’s allegedly upcoming tablet PC named ‘’.

Netbook Italia, which posted the first pictures of the , has shed some more light on the rumors. It was earlier speculated that this Toshiba Tablet would be a Windows 7 Tablet PC, but now rumors have entirely swerved the operating system hints and the latest hit is it at Google Android.

There are no extravagant details here, and what Toshiba is working on is seemingly one of the most interesting Android tablets we’ll be seeing in the near future. The PC, also believed to named as Toshiba Folio 100, has some interesting chemistry of hardware and software in its entirety.

The Toshiba Android Tablet features a 10.1 inch capacitive touchscreen display that renders a resolution of 1204×600 pixels, a 1.3 megapixel camera also dubbed as ‘webcam’ for the device that would certain qualify you to entertain video calls on the device.

Under the hood, there is a powerful NVIDIA Tegra 2 chipset that will ensure that the device runs smoothly as you exercise its Android 2.2 OS and accelerometer functionality whether you are playing games or arranging business.

Other specifications also include a HDMI port, a USB port, a micro USB port, a 3.5 mm audio jack, a 1020mAh battery that rated to deliver about 7 hours of juice for browsing/video playback and even more. Also, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi support savor the connectivity needs of this tablet PC.

About 16GB of onboard memory with support for expandable memory via a microSD card, preloaded Opera mobile web browser, Flash 1.0 support, a built-in ebook reader and some office applications also form the crust of features for the PC.

Due to be showcased at the IFA 2010 event in Berlin, Germany, the Android Tablet will surely be head turner for it’s got some best-in-class specs, the Android 2.2 build and an iPad-like docking station among other interesting features.

    Ahhh the SmartPad. The very same device John Biggs slammed last week for having too many useless ports on it. CrunchGear lost my respect after I read that post.
