Panasonic 3D Hits BestBuy in April, Aims to Sell 500,000 TV’s at 50% Price!
Panasonic is launching its new line of 3D televisions in the market this week. Panasonic will be the second company after Samsung to offer 3D technology to consumers.
Company has set aggressive goals of selling 1 million 3D televisions during the fiscal year 2011 and half of the sales are expected to come from North America.
Panasonic is banking on its partnership with BestBuy and a promotion to achieve these targets. Company is set to slash the price by half for North American consumers.
One of the models (50T25) that will go on sale is originally worth $4800 which will be sold at $2500. This promotion not only helps in quick adoption of the new technology but also gives an edge over its competitors, Samsung which already has a 3D TV in the market and Sony will soon have its line of 3D TV’s in store.
Though the announcement reads that the Televisions will be launched this Wednesday, it will take at least 2-3 weeks for the stock to hit the local BestBuy stores. Some will have it before others.
We didn’t get an official statement from BestBuy yet, however, after calling a few local stores 2-3 weeks of wait time sounded reasonable but none of the sales reps were aware of the pricing of the televisions.
Panasonic helped us out with some additional information with regards to the model numbers and the price tags.
According to the Panasonic, 2 models, 50’VT25 and 54’VT25 will be available by late April with the price tag of $2,499.95 and $2,999.95 respectively.
Other two models 58’VT25 and 60’VT25 will be available in mid-June and the pricing for these televisions is not available yet.
All of us have been talking about it and have seen several prototypes and experiments over the years, however, the 3D technology is finally coming to our living rooms. It will be interesting to see how many of us would like to sit in front of our TV’s with the goggles on to watch the next Avtar!
Will you buy one of these or Wait to see how others react?
