Electronic Key Impressioner 2It’s digital age and seems like the lock smiths wouldn’t be celebrating this one product at least and curse the launch of an Electronic Key Impressioner that let’s one make computerized lock keys instantly, by mapping the inside of a lock.

Invented by APS, the electronic key impressioner or EKI is a portable and handy device, much like a modern day or digital screw driver in looks with a alignment meter and a control key on its handle and a scanning tip at the bottom.

The scanning tip is inserted into the lock hole and allows scanning tips of various sizes to be connected to it. The alignment of the scanning tip is judged by the digital alignment meter on the handle and control button executes the operation.

The device connects to a computer via a USB cable and uses a ‘unique’ computer software to provide the keycode ‘within a matter of seconds’. Using this keycode, a physical lock key can be designed perfectly in an instance using a computerized key cutter.

The Electronic Key Impressioner comes with a full set of most common vehicle lock keyway inserts, a USB connecting cable and the latest lock mapping software and can unlock even wafer locks which do not have a side bar.

While this electronic key impressioner will be available to locksmits and authorized security professionals, it is also being designed to  work more efficiently  and with wide range of scanning tips to ease the job.

I think the person that wrote this article is long overdue for a big time "Reality Check" because this crap about "That means, unlocking locks has never been so easy. But, what if you consider the other side, isn’t it risky that one fine day a locksmith gets to buy this thing as a new addition to his Locksmith tools.

And suddenly in the middle of the night he makes up his wicked mind to walk away with your Mercedes when you are sleeping? Maybe, we are just exaggerating."is really getting old.Lock smithing is a time honored profession and being a licensed locksmith I can say that lock smithing isn't something that's learned so easily or overnight.I takes a lot of years to become proficient at manipulating and opening locks. You are extremely irresponsible in alarming the public as you do because while there may indeed be lock smiths that are unscrupulous that goes with any and all professions, just look at all the corrupt police that we never hear about, look at all the pervert teachers that molest their under aged students just like there are many women who are also sick perverts, but you never really hear that being dragged out all over the news and the media.I have yet to meet a fellow lock smith that's unethical and has no respect for the profession and if I ever do meet a fellow lock smith that's dirty/dishonest I will be the first person going to the local police station to turn in said dirty/dishonest lock smith because I take great pride in my profession as a lock smith like many lock smiths before me and I'll be damned if I'm going to let one bad apple spoil the bunch.I takes many many years to even begin to grasp a fair understanding of lock smithing and also me as a lock smith can and will lose my lock smith license and will never get it back if I should do anything questionable. So you did well to close that statement as you did because lock smithing is an extremely serious business and and I as I'm sure my fellow locks smiths feel and will all agree will never betray the public trust bestowed upon me when I was granted my lock smith license.Just because the police are sometimes corrupt we should all now fear and suspect the police?Because of the few sick teachers (male and female alike) that have molested under aged students we should all feel that all teachers are suspect?Get a clue and cut this crap out already. And here's another "News Flash" for you,if a lock smith does wrong by stealing the lock smith will pay a heavier price in fines and in time spent in prison simply because as a lock smith a person should know better than to do such things and betray the public trust, that's right, and I agree with that whole heartedly. If I am stopped by police carrying my pick set without my lock smith license on me I will be taken into custody until I can have somebody bring my lock smith license to the police station and if I'm taken before a judge the judge will fine me for failing to have my lock smith license with me while I was in possession of my lock picking tools, and rightly so,because what business would I or any other lock smith have walking around carrying lock picking tools without also carrying a lock smith license?I can't speak for all states but in NYC where I'm licensed I had to submit finger prints and a photo and I did not receive my lock smith license until I was cleared and clean so for you or anyone to come off half cocked suggesting that we lock smiths would just turn around one day and just ruin our lives and our reputations is extremely irresponsible and totally idiotic at best.If people want to commit crimes they don't need to spend years studying locks and lock smithing and spending so much on lock tools and books, they're better off just using hammers, crow bars and chisels to break in because do any of you honestly believe that a lock smith is going to stand there at your door or car without you first presenting proper indentification/proof of ownership before said lock smith will open anything for you or anybody?Because if you believe that then watch out the next time you step outside because cows can really fly.

    Hi Mr. Nelson,

I appreciate your profession and all your noble thoughts on it and I had no intentions to lampoon or irk anyone in this league.

But let me tell you, I never wanted the content in the article to be deceptive in any sense, it was just meant to be a typographic appreciation of the product.

Unfortunately, we slightly overlooked the fact it would irk somebody or ripple out this way, which is something we'd never do intentionally.

Yes, Indeed, I'm aware of the procedures that must be exercised to be a locksmith and the "addition to his locksmith tools" was only used in contrast to savor the parody.

But,with all due respect to your profession, and all locksmiths in general, we have updated the post in view of our best mutual interest.

Thanks for commenting on the post.

WE ARE AGENTS FOR HP AND FINANCE COMPANYS I WOULD LIKE TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT YOUR PRODUCT

Thank you for updating your post and for being sensitive and respectful to the views of those of us who take our profession very seriously.I thank you greatly.I don't know if you have ever heard of "Bump Keys" but there was a stink raised about how easy it is to obtain said "Bump Keys" and how easy they are to operate."Bump Keys" do indeed exist and do indeed work but that's another tool that we lock smiths use to open locks for customers who have proper identification and we lock smiths only resort to using "Bump Keys" when drilling the lock may not be a good idea or destroying said lock can cause severe damage to the door in question.Yes,"Bump Keys" are quite effective and useful and most certainly a great danger if in the wrong hands but consider this, first of all "Bump Keys" can only be produced by a code cutting key machine,my code cutting key machine cost me $1,700.00 and I was lucky enough that I was able to purchase my code cutting key machine at that price because said code cutting machine retails at $2,500.00.Let us also take into account that using a code cutting key machine isn't just a question of reading a manual and off we go to code cut keys,no,a code cutting machine is nothing without the lock smith that knows how to calibrate, operate and set up the machine.Key machines are only really sold to people that have hardware stores and can prove it or licensed/certified lock smiths,my duplicating machine cost me $800.00,then the code machine another $1,700.00,so as you can see this all gets very involved and extremely expensive.I have gone to lock smiths and hardware stores that have refused to sell me key blanks even when I submitted my lock smith license, add to that the fact that for "Bump Keys" to be effective a person would need to have access to the many brands of locks and all the different key ways for said locks and know how to cut the keys, how many of you have ever had to go back to a hardware store because they cut the key the wrong way?so never mind if they tried to cut a "Bump Key".And it's also said that anyone with the right key blank and the appropriate file can make a "Bump Key",HA HA!!!!,NOT!!!first of all it wouldn't be as precise filing a "Bump Key" with a file as a code cutting machine is and it takes quite some time to master making keys with files.Maybe it's just me but I think that these "scare tactics" that have been used scaring the public about "Bump keys" and things along those lines is just not right, sure you can get "Bump keys",if you have authorization to get them,or if you have the kind of money that it takes to buy a quality code cutting machine plus a duplicating machine plus the cost of all the different key blank brands, and if you don't mind carrying around a jansport back pack full of keys to cover most lock brands and their respective key ways.As I've stated before, lock smithing takes many years of study and practice,it's not something that can be learned overnight.Anyone wishing to take up lock smithing just to be able to break and enter or commit crime would best be served by investing in quality chisels, sledge hammers and crow bars and even with that chances are good that you can and will get caught, but at least you won't have wasted the many years of study and the thousands of dollars that it takes to become a lock smith just to throw it all away by breaking the law. Here's some "food for thought",1.how long does it usually take for most people to be able to remeber a face and give good descriptions of people that they see/have seen acting suspiciously?2.How many people would call the police if they were to see anybody that they've never seen before at their neighbor's door messing with the locks? With the above mentioned being the case who in their right mind would stand in front of any door taking the time to find the appropriate lock pick/"Bump Key" with the appropriate key way for any given lock?Nobody except a total idiot/lunatic.Again,I'm not saying that people are not unscrupulous, but considering what I mention here how likely is it that any lock smith with so much as half a brain is going to just throw away so many years of study and having spent so much money just to steal?Think about this people.I've heard about dirty cops, dirty politicians and so forth but I've yet to hear about a dirty lock smith.AS a lock smith I can tell you that you don't need to go out and spend hundreds of dollars on really expensive locks to be safe,if you can afford top of the line locks that's good, but for those of you "average joes" that don't have high salaries there are ways to secure your homes without leaving yourself flat broke or the need to take out a second mortgage on your house. There are things such as jimmy-proof bars,J-bars,guard plates, steel hardened collars and other things that can be used to secure doors, not just Medeco/Mul-T-Lock brand locks and cylinders.P.S.And for those of you out there that think that you can get "Bump Keys" off the net good luck, because those keys don't work, buy yourself a sandwich or take your girl friend/wife out for a good dinner and you'll do a lot more good with that money than if you went on the net looking for "Bump Keys" because guess what?the police know all about "Bump keys" and if you get caught with "Bump Keys" and you don't have a justifiable reason for having them then good luck at the local prison, you may need it because "yes" people, law enforcement knows all about "jigglers",and "Bump Keys",lock picks and bypass tools too. Here's some "Trivia"?In NYC if you are stopped and found in possession of lock picking tools in any area where there have been burglaries and you don't have proper authorization for carrying/possessing lock picking tools then you can and will be arrested and charged for any/each burglary that may have occurred in said area within the past 5 yrs and you can and will be given 5 to 7 yrs for any/each burglary, plus of course a felony charge, you know, just to round it all off.Of course there are probably a lot of you out there that think that I'm full of baloney right?Well I'm sure you'll remember me having told you all of this when you end up in "Lock-down" for trying to be "slick" by thinking that you could just go out get lock picking/by pass tools and break the law.
