Pratt Institute student Suhyun Kim, has put some mind and soul work into designing a phone for the deaf or for impaired hearing. It is called the Visual Sound, and the name is most definitely derived from its functionality.
The Visual Sound Phone looks like a modern day electronic scroll with two scroll bars at either ends that reveal a transparent touchscreen when distanced, allowing you to tap messages or make and receive calls.
While no detailed characteristics about the touchscreen material or its features have been told, it is said that the touch screen would enable one to tap messages on it, which will be automatically converted to voice for the other person on line using its inbuilt text-to-speech-and-vice-versa software engine.
