Siano Mobile Silicion: Mobile TV coming to your Personal Navigation Device or GPS Device Soon!
In a press release today, Siano announced its partnership with GPS device makers like Garmin, Mio, Navigon and others.
This partnership means that the upcoming GPS devices from any of the above listed GPS makers will integrate MDTV receiver chips from Siano. With this partnership Sanio Mobile Silicon enables mobile TV viewing on the GPS devices. Sanio claims that its receiver chips are engineered to deliver high performing viewing experience even in the most extreme conditions.
This is not only a huge step forward for the company but for the MDTV industry as well. The partnership takes the Mobile TV technologies to the next level and makes it more accessible and dependable.
An estimated 60 million MDTV enabled devices will be traded across the world with Asian and European countries leading the way. The numbers are pretty evident that none of the essential compact devices can or should remain uni-functional.
Siano Mobile Silicon is helping the small electronic device manufacturers do just that, turn their devices into a multifunctional gadget.
From what we’ve read, these devices are currently only being manafactured for Asian, European and Brazilian markets.
We will have more updates on the partnership and hopefully a working prototype demo from the CES, Las Vegas in January.
Till then stay tuned and be prepared to merge your GPS device and Mobile TV experience.

This is kind of pointless really, except for very specialized situations.
