umg-youtube-vevoThe music videos industry is travelling over the internet now. Gone are the days when people sat switching music channels on the TV and waited for their favorite music videos to light up the silver screen.

In the ever blooming world of internet and online music, a new music video website embarked last night. And, they call it Vevo. Well folks at Vevo aren’t our friends yet, but you’ll be glad if we introduced it to you.

Vevo is an online music video music website owned by Sony BMG and the Universal Group. Basically, Vevo is the Youtube sister site that functions just as Youtube does. It’s got an organized library of 30,000 videos to play from. But unlike Youtube, Vevo is intended to play only music videos.

Vevo will have its own data storage servers and all the content for Vevo will be stored on a Satellite website. Search engine giant Google and Universal Group have reportedly partnered for sharing ad revenues.

Vevo :The Next MTV?

What will bolster the financial bone of Vevo is either the ad revenues or the premium access charges paid by users. For now, bearing the ads is the easiest and most affordable way to go as most internet users perceive.

In its update on Vevo, Cnet say that “The idea is to create an MTV for the digital age, a music site where all the latest and archived videos can be found. It’s a business model similar to that of Hulu, the popular TV and movie site.”

Well Youtube was already there. So why Vevo? Practically, Youtube hasn’t been good enough to gather some green cash or hook in a good number of premium subscribers. Moreover, most of the video content available on Youtube is user generated and often lacks praise-worthy standards.

Contrastingly, Vevo will allow music video playback under genuine headers which will also help it in retaining the quality and content of videos besides unavoidably carving a niche for itself in the Online music videos industry.

Critical Appreciation:

As per our research data, Vevo has already served more than 20K visitors since its launch last night which included eminent artists like 50Cent and LadyGaga who rocked the launch party. Presumably or assertively, it’s on the stairway to be one of the best music videos websites.

Vevo isn’t globally available yet (incl. India) but is quite firingly active in US, UK and some other nations across the globe.
