Gboard-logo Experimenting with shortcuts have always been fun and more importantly, time saving as it cuts off the boring (and sometimes tedious) sequential procedures that need to be crossed through to get an action done.

Just for an instance, the basic copy and paste keyboard shortcuts save a lot of time for the ones using DTP applications. Likewise, if you are a long-time friend with the Google’s mail services, the Gmail, you should try befriending the Gboard (It’s not a Google Product).

So what’s this Gboard thing? Just like we’ve had a dedicated gaming keyboard or a dedicated programming keyboard, the Gboard is a dedicated 19-keys keyboard for Gmail users.

It’s a feel-good color-button keyboard that connects to your PC using a USB port. Specifically meant for assisting you with Gmail shortcuts, each colored button (Blue, Green, Red and Orange) on the Gboard replaces a shortcut command for your Gmail.

For instance, using the Search button will launch mail search or you may want to send your mails to the trash using the Trash button and likewise. Other shortcut keys on Gboard include keys for Messages, Spam, Inbox, Archive, Favorite, Star, etc which perform their respective functions.

As of now, The Gboard supports all the available 69 shortcut commands against its 19 keys. But, with the Google labs working to simplify things further, the inclusion of more new shortcuts for gmail, could question the shortcut keys compatibility of the Gboard.

The Gboard is a plug and play device and thus requires no installation or setup configuration to be exercised. Just select the “keyboard shortcuts on” from the Settings menu under the General tab and you are done.

It works with both Windows and Mac systems and is  priced at $19.99. Click here to buy Gboard now. Click here for further info on the Gmail keyboard.

Critical Appreciation:

The Gboard should yield its creator some good fame, especially when about 30% of the internet users rely on Gmail Services. Considering otherwise, most people do not usually go for shortcut keys while using Gmail.

Even if they do, it cannot get exponentially better the regular keyboard shortcuts for gmail , that’s why we say the market demand cannot be foretold, speculatively.
