Dear HP, You are NOT Doing us any Favors. With Love –Abbas #HPFail
I generally keep away from badmouthing companies and their products or the support system because there is no company/product/support which does not have a bad day, but this was different.
I recently got an HP laptop (my bad!) thinking why should I wait until Windows 7 is released when laptops that are currently available are eligible for an upgrade.
I registered on the upgrade site as soon as I could so that I am one of the first to receive Windows 7 upgrade kit. Little did I know HP had no plans of shipping the upgrade kit out until mid-November and Microsoft was not doing anything about it!
Steve talks about Windows 7 being available immediately after the launch but little did he know that their OEM’s are not on the same page.
As much as I want to say I am a Windows 7 PC HP won’t let me say that. It’s been a week since the launch and based on the information I received from HP I am not expecting the upgrade for another week. It’s ridiculous
Amazon is shipping Windows 7 order in 1 day Office Max ships between 1-3 days. So what’s taking HP so long to ship our upgrade kits? Oh, I get it, we already paid for it so there is no additional money company can make on us, so what’s the hurry?
The other day I called the company HP has partnered with to send out the upgrade kits, Arvato. I tried calling them on the number mentioned on the Contact us page, but all I heard was the busy tone!
This went on for almost two days after which I sent an e-mail asking about the shipment dates. No replies for almost 3 days (excluding weekend) I called HP support and the guy I talk to almost implied that I am not paying for it so I might as well wait for a while. Can it get any worse?
Later on the call he suggested that Arvanto is not reachable by phone because of the high call volume and mails will also be answered a little late for the same reason.
All I can say is customers deserve to be treated better and keeping the customers on wait to get something that most of us are eagerly waiting for is just unacceptable.

I would have suggested Dell. Dell has never disappointed me with their service. I've worked for the company and I know how seriously they take Customer Satisfaction. In fact Dell is offering instant upgrade through their website.
The only thing I am sad about is that the offer of free upgrade to Windows 7 was announced just 2 months after I bought my Studio series.
