Apple Slate or iSlate is What Apples New eReader/Tablet Might be Called – Bill Keller

Bill Keller might have spill the beans about Apples latest mystery product, call it Apple’s eReader, Apple Tablet or currently rumored as iSlate or Apple Slate
Last week, Bill Keller, made an “off the record” speech to NYT’s staff talking about the publications road map towards embracing upcoming technology along with traditional media and the paid vs free content.
Interestingly during the speech, Keller, mentions something about Apple Slate or iSlate when he talks about the how NYT is working with companies like Apple with their existing and upcoming products.
His exact words during the speech are as follows..
“I’m hoping we can get the newsroom more actively involved in the challenge of delivering our best journalism in the form of Times Reader, iPhone apps, WAP, or the impending Apple slate…”
The “Off the record” speech video (embedded below) was recently published on Vimeo by Nieman Journalism Lab. The video is about 9 ½ minutes long, simply go to 8:15 on the video bar if you specifically want to hear about Apple’s Slate or iSlate.
Gawker first reported it late Sunday, later picked up by other publications and blogs.
I checked on the iSlate or Apple Slate related domain names which did not result in any direct confirmation but interestingly iSlate.com is registered with MarkMonitor and has its admin information on Whois and Apple’s other domains like, iPhone.com, iPod.com or Apple.com are all registered with MarkMonitor.
Not sure if that’s a clear indication of what’s to come but it certainly adds to the rumor. I am already liking iSlate or Apple Slate!
