Kindle International: Amazon Takes it’s Invention Global! (Kindle International Ships 19th Oct)
Kindle goes international. Kindle is the “iPod” of the digital content industry selling an estimated 500,000 units in its first year of launch. That’s more than the number of iPods sold in its first year.
Amazon is now taking preorders for International Kindle that will start shipping from October 19th onwards. Only Kindle is international Wireless compatible as of now, Kindle DX does not ship internationally.
International Kindle does not need any additional subscription to work with your local 3G/Edge/GSM network, Amazon takes care of it. Click here to see the “Whispernet” coverage worldwide.
Kindle is designed to give you a paper-like feel with no glare while reading from it even in sunlight. The gadget offers a collection of 350k+ books to download and you can even download and read the first chapter of each book for absolutely free before you decide to buy.
International Kindle is priced at $279 whereas the US version at $259. International orders do not qualify for free shipping and are subjected to customs duty depending upon the destination country. Which means ordering a Kindle to India will cost about $400+; this includes the shipping and customs duty.
These rates largely vary depending upon the custom laws and tariff of any given country.
But I am sure this will not stop the avid book readers from getting the best digital book reader in the world. Click here to get Kindle US Only
