The ‘World’s Most Affordable 3D Scanner’ is Here!
![]() |
Z Corporation, well known for its 3D scanning and printing products, has just unveiled a new 3D scanner to add up to its existing lineup of products. It’s the Z Scanner 600, which is reportedly designed to be portable, economical and handheld.
Just like a 2D scanner can scan documents, a 3D scanner can be used to scan 3D objects and the scanned data can be used to reproduce the recordings as real-time 3D objects using 3D printing.
Ihe Zcorp 3D scanner uses an eye safe Class II LASER and is fitted with a pair of cameras which capture the object view in 3D at a sampling speed of 18,000 measurements per second with XY accuracy of up to 80 microns.

Technology from alien realms? Seems like.
Here is how it works -
First, hold it in your hand using the supporting arm of the 3D scanner. Initialize the device software on your computer, fire the laser and hover the 3D scanner around the object you desire to scan. That should complete the 3D scanning process. Sounds simple. Isn’t it?
The recorded measurements and 3D view are drilled down on your computer using the ZScan™ Lite software that works with Windows Vista® Business or Windows® XP Professional and this requires a good hardware configuration also.

Pricey Scanner with Dicey Market?
This best fits use in manufacturing, design and cultural heritage sectors where 3D scanning is indeed an integral part.
The company claims that ZScanner 600 is the world’s most affordable 3D scanner, yet it will run you through some $28,000. OMG, did I just say $28,000!!
All in all, we can say, its something really good to put the Matrix 3D printer in use that we recently reported, only if you could somehow ignore the extremely heavy price tag.
