Tata Announces India’s First 3G Netbook, 9 Other Models To Come Up Soon!

Netbooks, by virtue of performance caliber and ultra-portable sizes have attracted a lot of techies and professionals worldwide. Different netbook vendors are staking in their money and high efforts are being made to ensure that their brand prevails in the netbook market.

tata_indicom_logoTo keep pace with the ever-increasing demand for the now-evolving 3G technology,  Tata Teleservices (TTSL) and Olive Telecommunication have launched X107H, India’s first 3G enabled netbook. Nevertheless, 3G technology is not new to the Indian atmosphere. Thanks to the population explosion of 3G enabled mobile phones.

The TTSL and Olive Tech duo is offering a staple configuration for its first 3G netbook which includes a 1.6GHz processor, 1GB RAM and 160GB HDD besides support for high speed internet connectivity through the Qualcomm ASC 6085 chipset paired with Tata’s broadband service, the Photon Plus.

“The unique advantages of our high-speed Internet access service get compounded by the feature-rich and attractively-priced Netbook, which will be on offer with an exclusive range of tariff offerings, designed to bring the best of both worlds to the market,” said Anil Sardana, Managing Director of Tata Teleservices”.

3G Netbook Launch : Moments of Joy

On a similar track, Dell and MTNL have bonded recently to launch 3G netbooks in India. While netbooks with 3G connectivity (like Nokia 3G Booklet) are already integrating recent history chapters worldwide,  they are yet to be launched in India which makes the Tata’s Netbook with 3G technology the very first to breathe the Indian Air.

The X107H will retail for Rs. 23,999 Rupees (£300) inclusive of the Photon Plus broadband service. Another few ‘subsidized netbooks’ are due for launch in a couple of months which will be priced between 4,999 to 39,999 Rupees (£63 – £500).

The X107H 3G Netbook will be available through all the Tata Indicom Stores across the country followed by the launch of the remaining 9 netbook models in the coming months.
