realRealPlayer is one of the first 10 things I install on my computer after a OS reinstall and that’s only because RealNetwork has constantly updated Real Player and added features that keep the software ahead of its competitors.

TNerd was one of the first few sites which reported the latest feature that was released with RealPlayer 11 which lets the users download movies, videos from almost any site.

Technologies have changed and a lot of new gadgets have hit the market since then however RealPlayer is keeping up with these advancements with regular feature updates.

I recently downloaded the latest version of RealPlayer it’s called “RealPlayer SP” its completely free and loaded with all the features that let you do much more than just listen to music.

One of the features that RealPlayer SP offers in addition to downloading videos from the internet is the option of converting these videos to several other formats.

These formats include Apple iPod, Sony PSP, Zune, Apple TV, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, PC or MAC, iPhone, Blackberry, Nokia, Samsung, Palm, etc…

I’ve been looking for free converters for some time now and did find a few which really worked well but RealPlayer SP delivers the best quality.

Here is how you can convert the downloaded videos in different formats.. (Click here to see how to download online videos using RealPlayer)

  1. Once installed, launch “RealPlayer SP Converter” from the programs menu…
  2. Either click on “Browse” or just drag and drop videos in the window…
Once you chose the videos that should be converted, click on the area below “Convert to:” and select the formats to convert.
  3. If you’d like to convert the video to multiple format, check the “Enable multi-select” box on this window and click “OK”.
  4. Alright, now you have it all figured out, videos and formats are selected. Click on start to start converting..
  5. Once all the videos are converted you will see a success alert which will also let you add the videos converted for iPod or iPhone to, iTunes.

That’s all, videos are converted and ready to be transferred to my iPhone.

Similarly you can convert any video using this tool to the most popular formats. RealPlayer SP Converter is one of the best free converters out there..

I love the RealPlayer SP converter, but there is one problem. When I download videos, they are automatically .flv. And when I try to convert videos, it says I need Flash Player. But I have it! And I've repeatedly (more than 10 times) installed, restarted, uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted, used REVO uninstall, and then reinstalled and restarted. It says it need s the file Flash.ocx when Windows comes up with a solution. I have Vista Basic by the way. And flash.ocx is an active x file . I don't know if any of that information helps, but I would like a suggestion to fix this. Thank you!

same with me, I try 2 convert a flv video which I have downloaded WITH realplayer but it says I require a flash player download which I already have installed. I tried reinstalling flash again and again but the same message appears. This is very annoying and pointless as there clearly seems to be a fault with the software or compatibilty issues.

You can convert youtube video files downloaded to your pc using VIDEORA, which is free, and no watermarks, and also faster than Real player sp converter, however, as far as I have tested it out, it makes you either select a folder for it to monitor for new files to convert, or you must select each one, one at a time, and go through an annoying process of selecting the file, choosing where you want the converted file to end up, and optional to rename it, then select the quality of audio/video, then press convert.... if you do it for a TV series of 170 episodes... GOOD GOD.

But if you are new at this converting thing, this it the BEST tutor available, as it walks you through step by step, and it explains in the upper screen what each step is about... so like "OUTPUT", "SOURCE"....

Speed wise, it is fast, converting a file using VIDEORA versus Real player is about 3 minutes for a 350mb file compared to about 35 minutes for real player going from avi to mp4.

give it a try. not as user friendly once you get the hang of it, but it does convert flv. very clear audio and video results too.
