Palm Pixi Announced on Sprint, Is Palm Rising Back To Power?

I wake up in the midnight alerted by a shouting mail from my inbox, it’s the news about Palm’s next handset, Palm Pixi, that has been very recently announced.

I quickly switch to my machine and get hovering through all the data about the Pixi and absorb as much as I can, then one thing that instantly grabs my attention is the cheeky baseline about the Pixi that reads “Designed to communicate on your terms. Instantly. Intuitively. Personally.”

Next begins the exhaustive work of justifying Palm’s statement, whether it really deserved that praise or is it just a humbug, only to realize that the Palm Pixi is incredibly slimmer than the Palm Pre and even slimmer than the iPhone, well these are just the abstract facts.

The truth is Palm has released its next web OS Phone, the Pixi, and it seems to take over the cell phone streets by a storm atleast for the unique webOS that no other manufacturer can get you, but Palm.

It is loaded with Palm Synergy, a feature that groups up all the related info and brings it to you in a common view. Just like the Pre, even the Palm Pixi is blessed with multi tasking,which means, the ability to switch between multiple applications by using natural, intuitive gestures.

A straight look at its features which include a powerful Qualcomm MSM7627 processor, a 2.3” capacitive touch display which is followed by a dedicated gesture at the bottom seem pretty good.

A 2MP camera with LED flash, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a full QWERTY keyboard that makes it easy to deal with both business and personal emails, sufficient 8GB of storage, and Bluetooth of course are suggestive of the phone’s capability, except that it’s missing Wi-Fi, that’s where you begin to blame.

It’s loaded with applications like Facebook to keep you in touch with your friends while Yahoo and LinkedIn integration for Synergy are also resident features. It’s also innovated with combined messaging and linked contacts, where a person’s info from different sources is grouped under one category, a single contact.

That’s not all. The Palm Pixi lets you share the photos from your phone’s gallery to Facebook or Photobucket via email or messaging, lets you download music from the Amazon store or easily transfer music, photos and videos using iTunes.

The Palm Touchstone Technology allows you wirelessly charge your phone, all you need is a Palm International Touchstone Charger, just place the Palm Pixi on the dock and it will automatically align your phone to charging using an oscillating electromagnetic field. Touchstone accessories are avaible starting from $69.99 .

Should you happen to accidentally lose it, you can stay assured that the substance is not goneforever, Palm Services regularly back up your data and if required they can remotely wipe off the data from your lost or broken phone and fill it up in a replacement handset. If you are thinking, it’ll be a free replacement, let me tell you, it’s not.

Palm had been lull and floundering haplessly with its PDAs almost for a long time until it became exceptionally active with the release of Pre, which brought downpours to its accounts, though not many have realised yet the disguised potential of Palm Pre and the webOS, but when they do, Palm will have tough reasons to celebrate.
