Type “slmgr –rearm” to Run Windows 7 for Free for 4 Months!
![]() |
When I said Microsoft is going an extra mile and making sure nothing about Windows 7 puts its users off, I was right and this includes the activation process for Windows 7.
Microsoft allows its users to use the operating system for a 30-day trial after which the users have to either buy the copy of the OS or stop using it, that’s in an ideal world. In reality (thanks to a well planted bug) users can rightfully extend the trial period for up to 4 months and then decide if they want to stick with it or not!
Generally users tend to stick to it because working on a machine for 4 months piles up enough information on the machine which directly or indirectly makes you buy the key, that might have been true for Windows Vista but my guess is that the refreshing taste of Windows 7 is enough to make users go for it.
So how does “slmgr –rearm work?
1. Once your trial period comes to an end
2. Got to command prompt and type in “slmgr –rearm”
3. Reboot the machine to see the changes kick in..
This is not new to windows users, same trick was used to extend the trial period on Windows Vista machines.
Microsoft is very much aware of the bug in Windows 7 and has recently confirmed it and has no issues users taking advantage of this bug. – ComputerWorld

will this reset the whole OS or it will simply extend the expire date?
