32GB Pico Drive : Another World’s Smallest USB Drive From Super Talent

Over the years, computers and electronic devices evolved ceaselessly. Rapidly. Earlier, things were bulkier, heavier and unportable. But with each passing day, technology is getting sleeker and is finding slimmer suits to slip in.

Not more than a couple of years ago, I proudly boasted to my friends about my Kingmax 2GB memory stick, which was then the world’s smallest for 2GB. Even now it is, only the storage capacities have increased.

We’ve seen mobile phones, cameras, watches and media players shedding the bulky form factors. Memory Storages, especially the USB Flash Drives seem to decently follow the trend. Every few days, a new type, a new shape or a new sized USB drive is launched. But, not many of them often make a remarkable statement of their own.

Small Wonder : 32 GB Pico USB Drive

Super Talent has oozed out talent by compressing sizes of memory storages. It has recently taken the credit for developing world’s smallest USB drives, an 8GB USB Drive followed by a 16GB USB drive. And, as they say, passion drives you blindly to your goal, nothing seems to stop them.

Super Talent has now developed another Pico USB Drive model that allows you to store more. They have doubled the storage capacity in the new Pico Drive – the 32GB Pico Drive. Super Talent uses a COB manufacturing process for its Pico series to achieve the smallest possible size.

A couple of years ago, I boasted off about my Kingmax 2GB flash drive, which was then the world’s smallest for 2GB.The world’s smallest USB drive (32GB variant here) is water and shock resistant and is made by compressing 32GB of NAND Flash into the same original dimensions (31.3mm x 12.4mm x 3.4mm).

It allows data transfer rates of up to 200X (30MBPS) and comes with a Polished Chrome Finish on its body. The only thing you must be afraid about is losing it and the small size takes the blame, so a chain / lanyard is also optionally included.

You can store up to 20 high quality movies or more than 40 movies (.avi files of 700MB each), innumerous songs, countless photos, millions of ebooks and much more. All this, in a thumb sized USB flash drive. What a fun.

Just very much like its siblings, the 32GB pico drive is a plug and play device, so no hassles installing or looking for software drivers. It is compatible with both Microsoft’s Windows operating systems and Apple’s Mac alike and is available starting from $85.
