iPod DJ Mixers – Moving Away from CD’s and DVD’s and Closer to iPod’s
iPods have literally taken over the lives of music lovers, the gadget is designed in a way which can be carried almost anywhere, so it is!
With the given popularity it was only logical to design a gadget with can put iPods to much serious use. I personally think the existing iPod based mixers are the indication of something more powerful and dependable to come which can be put real/professional use.
I know at least two DJ’s (DJ Asif and DJ Nikhil) who will be interested in a gadgets like these..
The first one is available at Urban Outfitters which is the only one I found that is iPod Touch compatible. Company calls it a home mixer hinting that the gadget is good enough for creating mixes to play in a group or at a friend’s party but not good enough to be used at clubs or by professional DJ’s.
DJ Mixer is compatible with iPod Touch, iPod Nano 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation, iPod Min and iPod Classic, 4th and 5th generations. It comes with Spin option and 2 effects programs with flange, reverb and filter and cross-fader slider, recording option and speaker system connection with a stereo audio cable with in-line jack. It also comes with a folding headphones and an AC adapter. That’s not a bad deal for $120.00 is it?

Numark iDJ iPod 2 Channel Mixer is another, not so new, but popular gadget which lets DJ’s work with their iPods. This gadget is compatible with ALL iPods with bottom connector.
Numark iDJ is slightly more expensive than DJ Mixer but it offers more options and functionalities like SVideo output for connecting iPod video/picture content to TVs, Dedicated microphone input with tone and level control inputs for adding additional devices available on both channels.
iDJ can also be used as a musicloading base for PC’s and Mac’s with its USB connectivity option.

Thanks for mentioning my name. The latest range of Numark iPod consoles support playing from a single ipod as well. But I dont see people switching that soon. Mainly cos they are looking for Pro sound at a really high sampling rate. Native Instruments is the leader in it. Traktor is the ultimate companion cos it recognizes ur iPod library with playlists.
