How to Set Bing as Default Search in All Major Browsers!
Microsoft’s recent attempt to make a mark in the search engine industry with Bing has not disappointed a lot of users. Though it cannot be compared with the best ever, Google, it’s a decent platform Microsoft can build on and offer a truly competitive alternative to the millions of users searching online.
This article will show you how to set Bing as a default search engine in all the major browsers available today.
Click on the Browser name and follow the steps to set Bing as default search
Internet Explorer: Setting Bing as default in IE as expected.
Click on the arrow top right corner of the window and select “Live Search”, now performing search will show results from Bing.com.

Or visit the URL here.. http://www.ieaddons.com/en/searchproviders . As shown in the image below click on the “Add to Internet Explorer” button next to the “Bing” image.

Select the options you see on the popup and click on “Add” button to add Bing to the list.

Mozilla Firefox: Bing can be added to Firefox in a few clicks as Microsoft offers Bing in the form of a plugin.
Click on the following URL (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10434) to visit the plugin page and install it on Firefox.
Click on “Download now” and on “Accept and Install” button as shown in the image blow to add it as the default search on Firefox.

Also, take notice that over 500k users have installed the extension so far and about 40,000 users are installing it on weekly basis.
Opera Browser: Opera needs some typing and clicking to do to add Bing as a Default Search Engine, but there isn’t anything difficult you cannot do.
- Open the browser, Click on “Tools” and “Preferences”
- Go to the “Search” tab and click on “Add”
- Feed in the details as shown in the image below and click “OK”

Google Chrome: Users can either follow the steps filed under Mozilla Firefox to install the plugin or follow the steps mentioned below to add Bing manually.
- Click on the tool like icon on the top right corner of the browser and click “Options”
- On the “Basic” tab click on “Manage” button next to the “Default Search” label and click on “Add” and feed the details as shown below

Once added to the list, highlight it on the list and click on “Make Default”

Safari Browser: The only way to use Bing as default search on Safari is by installing a third party plugin called Glims from Machangout.com
This plugin is not available for Windows machines.
Microsoft is spending about $100 Million in marketing efforts for Bing; we can at least give it a shot! I am certainly not saying Bing is better than Google but using Bing will give Microsoft enough information to improve on.
Remember Competition = Innovation, Promote Competition!

I tried the plugin Glim for my Bing download onto my OS X (I use Safari), but things started acting a little screwy (things crashed) and I didn't like the way the tabs were or were not working. Have you heard other complaints from MAC users? Thanks for the info.
