If all the fancy lighters your smoker friends boasted about were just not enough, here is a new one for a change. A phone that has a built-in cigarette lighter, okay, that’s a world’s first Lighter Phone but not something that deserves an unbiased praise.

Seabright International Limited has introduced a new phone – Seabright SB6309 that is integrated with a gold cigarette lighter. The back of the phone has the lighter protected by a sliding cover. Much like the cigarette lighter in your car, this phone has a heating element in the back for your cigarettes.

To use, just slide the covering and press the lighter button to light up your cigarette. What’s different? The Seabright Lighter Phone uses a gold lighter for your cigarettes that does not blow out against the wind, works without gas and suits high altitude areas.

How about the battery life when I use the lighter on the phone? No idea! But, I can guess it will drain out unusually fast unless they have some exclusive battery fitted into it. If not, definitely it will not be a pleasing thing to know. That’s all I could enchant about the highlight feature of the phone.

Other features include a 1.3 MP Camera, 2.4 inch QVGA Display, a built in MP3 and MP4 player and a lot more. There were no details on the memory storage, so we are not sure about the enormity of the collection you can carry along.

It also comes with FM Radio, has dual SIM card slots (for 900/1800/850/1900 GSM) with dual standby enabling you to use both the connections simultaneously, supports multiple languages and is Bluetooth transmission enabled.

In view of the announced ban on smoking in public places in countries like Australia, Canada, France, Hong Kong, Iceland, India, New Zealand, Singapore and many others, the Seabright SB6309 Cigarette lighter phone should find good customers in Japan where at least 30% of the people could not get through the day without smoking.

So the next time you pop in a cigarette in your teeth, you don’t have to grope for a lighter in your pocket. We would not suggest you to purchase this gizmo at least for the sake of my childhood lessons that shout in my head – ‘Cigarette Smoking is Injurious to health’.
