Nokia Surge – Socially Supercharged SmartPhone from Nokia
Nokia and AT&T are back hand in hand with the announcement of the new “socially supercharged smartphone”. Its officially named as “Surge” aka “Mako” and it should certainly make up for its name for the low price once it is launched.
The Nokia Surge phone boasts a slider keyboard beneath the 2.4inch TFT screen that displays 16M colors at 320×240pixels. They could have covered the top of the slide completely with the display itself but wish I could guess what they were up to by providing a Ngage-like screen with broad bordered panel.
The Nokia Surge boasts full QWERTY keyboard that seems comfortable enough to quickly type anything with ease. It comes with a 2 mega pixel camera with up to 4X digital zoom that can shoot pictures for a maximum resolution of 1600×1200 pixels and also records videos in QVGA quality.
Listen to the music on its 2.5mm jack headphones from the gallery or download it over the air via Napster Mobile, eMusic Mobile, XM Radio (and even stereo FM radio with RDS) and more. Users can also share live videos even when making a voice call, which is certainly the first of its type service in US by any carrier.
You can also share videos and pictures from your Nokia Surge over social networking sites like Facebook, Youtube, Twitter and Flickr using JuiceCaster or indulge in full fledged browsing over the web using its HTML browser with Flash Support.
The Nokia Surge is designed on S60 platform which is probably the most open and user-friendly OS platform from Nokia which means you’ll never run short of applications when you need them.

It comes with 128MB of internal storage space which can be integrated with an 8GB expandable microSD card, that means you’ve got enough room to carry your entertainment directory with you.
It will assist you with turn-by-turn directions using the A-GPS support or precisely called as AT&T Navigator. You can download applications as you desire over the web and customize your phone to suit your needs.
TheSymbianS60 based smart phone is basically social networking centric and is designed for those who like to stay connected with their friends and family on the go whether via IM,SMS ,email or through any other social networking sites.
Connectivity options include Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP, USB v2.0, Class10 GPRS, EDGE and HSDPA. It supports both 2G and 3G networks and renders a battery standby time of up to 400 h (2G) and up to 400 h (3G) and a talk time of up to 4h 50 min (2G) and up to 4h (3G).
The Nokia Surge will be available through select AT&T retail locations or at www.wireless.att.com for 79.99 USD with a two-year service agreement and after a mail-in rebate.
