Feature Overload with Samsung Omnia II – All is Good!
Hail the next generation Omnia phone – The Samsung Omnia II which is due to be announced later this year is the new hype. The Verizon-bound Samsung Omnia II sports a better streamlined design than the original Omnia and looks much like an iPhone, but relatively less appealing. It is the sequel to the company’s original Omnia phone.
The Omnia II features a 3.7” AMOLED Display, larger than the iPhone and the largest yet for a smart phone with a screen resolution of 480×800 pixels and 16M color support. The WVGA resistive touch screen offers smooth access to the UI of the phone and is desperately responsive to access at a touch.
It runs Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional which will be upgradable to version 6.5 as soon as Microsoft releases it. The Omnia II will come with an improved and simplified user interface provoking you to joyously say, ‘it’s simpler.
It’s amazing’ once you get your hands over it. The ‘TouchWiz 2.0’ UI it comes with, is just another step in simplifying the access to the smart phone’s applications right from the lock screen. At Samsung, they call this feature as “Smart Unlock”.
The Omnia II brings you the next level of entertainment experience with support for 3D games and much more multimedia features. You can crack quick shots from its 5MP Auto-focus CMOS camera which comes with brilliant features like Face Detection, a bright LED flash Smile Shot and a Photo Editor.
It is also equipped with features that let you share photos instantly over web using Mobile Blogging or Geo Tagging. You will simply be amazed by its DVD-like video recording and playback quality.
You can record great quality videos at 30fps and play them in supported formats like DivX, XviD, H.263, H.264, WMV9 and MPEG4. If you feel like making the videos more interesting, you can use its video editing features like Trim video, Audio dubbing, Live dubbing or even add subtitles to the video.
Heed to the appeal of the phone’s music collection on a Bluetooth Stereo Headset (A2DP) in audio formats like MP3, AAC, AAC+, and WMA from the storage on your device. Listen to your favorite radio stations over its FM with RDS (Radio Data System) by plugging the headphone into the 3.5mm jack on its core.

Access a wide range of multimedia and other content on the phone directly from the web at high speeds. The credit goes to its HSUPA 5.76Mbps and HSDPA 7.2Mbps network support. Not only this, you can also tune into the web using the Omnia II’s Wi-Fi support.
Connectivity options include Bluetooth® v 2.0 / USB 2.0 / Wi-Fi and network support for EDGE, UMTS and GPRS 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900MHz besides HSDPA (7.2 Mbps) / HSUPA (5.76Mbps).
The Value Added Services of the phone include an A-GPS with 3D Map Navigation support and many others like 3D Media Gate, Multi-task manager and 3D Interactive Games.
The phone’s internal memory comes in three variants that include 2GB/8GB/16GB while the external memory is expandable up to 32GB using the microSDHC™ card.
The standard Omnia II battery will render a talk time of 10hrs (3g) and up to 432 hrs in standby mode.
It is expected that Samsung will let Verizon do the honors on the price, date of launch and availability of the Omnia II. However, there were no official reports for the above.

Hey, perhaps you did not notice the signature note of the article...There are no official confirmations on the price yet..
About the upcoming Android-based phones, you can refer the following link for a detailed info..
I don't get why they are releasing this phone...the I8910HD is a much higher spec. Windows mobile is pretty sucky sucky - and doesn't offer the great advantages everyone goes on about. I use my HD for office as well as personal - can't fault it.
Seems like the Omnia II is a step backwards.
The Omnia Pro models would be worth looking at, depending on user preference.
The Omnia lite - I mean, what's all that about?
The Samsung Omnia II is not much appealing but the best thing is it supports for 3D games and much more multimedia features. For more information on other models refer http://www.etechreviews.net/
You writie in the article: "It’s amazing’ once you get your hands over it. The ‘TouchWiz 2.0’ UI it comes with, is just another step in simplifying the access to the smart phone’s applications right from the lock screen. At Samsung, they call this feature as “Smart Unlock”."
Have you seen with your own eyes that the "smart unlock" function is wokring on the Omnia II? It is not described anywhere in the manual.

Talk about the money baby. Any idea how much might it be priced around?
Also, any updates on the new android handsets that Google is thinking of releasing?
