UserFly a Brilliant Idea for Usability Testing! Can it Get any Better? Yes it can!!
Userfly is one of those services which has the X-factor or the Wow-factor attached to it. When I first saw this service, I went “This is brilliant!! every webmaster should have this installed on their website.”
Userfly offers services which let webmasters see visitor behavior in the real environment. Once the code is installed on the site (which takes about 2-3 minutes to do) it records everything your visitors are doing during the time they are on the site.
These sessions are saved in your account on Userfly.com. Based on the data recorded earlier, userfly recreates the entire session graphically whenever you want to see them.
The following screenshot shows how a typical panel looks like. (click on the image to enlarge it)
I’ve recorded one of the sessions from Userfly, take a look at what it looks like in the video below.
Users can register with Userfly and record up to 10 free sessions. If you like the service you have to upgrade to a paid account which starts at $10 a month for 100 recorded sessions up to $200 for 10000 sessions a month.

Now this service might look like it is the best and this is exactly what the webmasters needed to make their sites better, to some extent that is true but I think this is just half the service UserFly is offering the other half is still missing.
The missing part of the service is Analytics. Userfly collects immense data based on which it re-creates real-time-like environment for webmasters to see the visitor behavior. Now I can see 5, 10, even 20 videos but how will I convert the information on these videos into hard numbers, I cannot!
Each of us have our own interpretation of what we see in the video so it is best to process the existing data and come show some numbers which make more sense.
For example, the service can suggest best ad placements on the site by analyzing the cursor movements over a period of time.
I think watching what a user is doing is an excellent idea but I just can’t imagine watching 100 sessions a month or may be more to know how the site should change and besides analytics is one of the best ways to understand user behavior as it put things in perspective.
All that said, UserFly is a brilliant service and it is certainly a MUST-TRY service for all webmasters.

Great affordable idea for usability testing.
A business can set up an adword campaign in a few moments to target their demographic audience.
For free they can sneak peek at the first 10 prospects behavior and then its only $10 a month for up to a hundred visitors.
They can then make their changes on the websites layout based on the usability testing results before they go "live" with the site!
Great idea. Thanks for sharing.

Hi TNerd,
Whole heartedly agree with you. The service that fills the gaps you described in Userfly is Loop11 (www.Loop11.com). Check it out. Still in private beta, but the wait was only a day or two for me. Interested in your thoughts on this service.
