Samsung Pixon 12 Samsung has announced the world’s first mobile phone with a 12MP camera giving tough competition to digital camera manufacturers and also to Sony which plans to launch its 12MP camera phone in the fall of 2009.

Just like its predecessor Samsung Pixon M8800, it features a 3.1” full touch AMOLED screen that lights up for a bright and sharp display. The highlight feature of the phone is the superb 12 MP camera with Xenon and led flash lights that easily capture high quality images as fast as any contemporary digital camera or more precisely, the phone’s camera gets ready for the next shot in less than 2 seconds.

The 28mm wide-angle lens camera can also records DivX videos at a resolution of 720×480 points with a touch of the dedicated camera key on the top. The innovative Touch Auto-Focus (AF) tracking feature of the gizmo lets you easily select the focus area with the touch of a finger and the AF will automatically keep itself tuned with the selected focus until the image is captured.

The camera also comes with an intelligent feature that appropriately selects the background, scene and lighting parameters based on the atmosphere in which the image is being shot. You may even want to categorize the images in your gallery by grouping them by tags, names, ratings and time.

It offers a wide range of wireless connectivity options like Wi-Fi, HSDPA/HSUPA and Bluetooth, so you are never short at connectivity. Use its A-GPS navigation system to reach your destinations faster and quicker. You can also browse and share images you have captured on the move with the Samsung Share Pix Application or upload on social networking sites like Facebook, Picasa, Flickr, MySpace, Photobucket and Friendster.

The next part of entertainment from the phone is the music you listen from its FM radio with RDS (Radio Data System) or choose from your favorite collection on the expandable 16GB microSD memory card against the in built 150MB of storage. It supports music formats like MP3, AAC, AAC+, AAC+e, WMA and plays MPEG4, H.263, H.264, DivX, XviD video formats. It operates on Quad band GSM networks.

This gadget will undoubtedly quench the thirst of the mobile phone critics for high end camera phones when it will be released in late June 2009 in the European Countries while it set for launch in other parts of the globe beginning from August 2009. However there was no word from Samsung on its price and further specifications.
