Microsoft Releases Browser Benchmarking Results – IE 48% Times Better Than FireFox and Chrome!
With browsers like Chrome, Firefox and Safari claiming they are the fastest and far better than their closest competitors it was time for Microsoft to join “I am a better browser” cat fight.
Microsoft takes a more informative approach in trying to explain how browser benchmarking should be done and justifying their claim that Internet Explorer is faster than other browsers.
The testing team picked up TOP 25 sites from ComScore in December and started testing load speed across three browsers, Internet Explorer, FireFox and Chrome. Results showed that IE won 48% of the times as opposed to Chrome’s 36% and Firefox’s 16%.
The following spreadsheet shows you all the 25 sites tested, their load times, and the winning browser.

The post also released a video which takes you through some of the details behind the whole benchmarking techniques and process. It also shows a few sites being put through the test.

Well, I can’t disagree with the numbers and stuff but it’s just hard to believe IE is faster! Anyway that’s just me.

I think that number 48 is a misleading factoid not worth repeating on a blog without any analysis. Just testing a few of the numbers I see that chrome was often 33%, 47% and 53% faster, while ie was 17, 21 and 27% faster on other sites. so I think those numbers are meaningless.
Why didn't they test the upcoming version 8 of IE with the upcoming version 3.5 of Firefox? Maybe the scores would be different..

As usual ... Microsoft can't be the second ...
As i can remember the fight Windows NT vs OS/2 some years ago ..
Microsoft benchmark was made with a special deal ..
Windows NT run on a 2 processor complex PC with a lot of memory and OS/2 was tested on a single slow processor with a very little amount of memory ..
I can't belive .. microsoft Windows NT was the winner ..
Amazing no ?
