Google TalkGoogle tools seem to be in news lately for all the wrong reasons. First it was the Gmail downtime which kept millions out of their inbox for several hours before the service was back to normal and now there is a spammer who is spamming Gtalk friend list to get your login credentials.

OK, even before we start remember this site [Viddyho.com], it’s a fishing site never enter your login information on that site.

Here is how it works…

If anyone on your Gtalk friend list has his/her account compromised a message will be sent to the entire friend list on Gtalk with a link to watch a video (tinyurl.com link). Once you click on this link it takes you to Viddyho.com where you are asked to enter your Google loging information to watch the video. If you fall for the trick and do so, all your friends on Gtalk will receive a similar message requesting them to watch the video and then asking them for their login information.

This is what the login page looks like at ViddyHo.com

Google Chat Phishing

It looks like the spammer had a long term stratergy with the phishing attack as the domin is registered for two years, usually thats not the case when it comes to such activities. The site is currently down and as I was writing this article Google identified Viddyho.com as a phishing site and started warning users of the possible information theft.

Google Warning

Given the way it works it’s spreading really fast, so be careful and never enter your loging information on the sites you are not sure about.
