UsernameCheck Goes Down – Suggest’s You to Create One of Your Own!

Username Check

One of my favourite sites went offline recently. The site is called UsernameCheck.com and as the name suggestes it helps you check if a particular Username is registered/available across multiple sites.

Developer of the site says that the site was a pet project wich was developed over the weekend and he has no time or interest to keep it running.

The site seem to have had about a million unique visits in the last 4 months. Following quote from the site will give you a good idea of how popular the site was..

“In the last 4 months we’ve had over a million absolute unique visitors, who have checked over 1/2 million unique usernames across 65 of the leading social networks. It’s success was beyond anything I imagined, and I’m very proud that it was of use to so many people. Thank you all for trying it out, and thank you for the kind words I’ve seen online.”

The webmaster encourages its users to create a similar site with added functionality, he also leaves a a link which expalins how the functionality can be brought to life.

So if you are interesetd enough, get to work and create something which as already proven to be a useful tool and an attention grabber.
