hopstop. save on gas by not driving anywhere. use public transport and hopstop to navigate your way.
mint.com is good for budgeting and tracking your finances. input your stocks, 401k, and banking and get your networth, plus trend reports each month for spendings. you have to categorize about 50% of the transactions yourself (like in quicken) but it's kind of worth it to see where your money goes and how you could stop wasting so much of it (in my case).
It's only in Seattle, but this app has all the happy hours going on in the city. Not a bad way to save money either... http://www.gotime.com/mobile
Totally forgot the new Mint.com application.
I don't have an iPhone, but it is the first application I would get if I did have one
This is a good list but it really is incomplete without the inclusion of "pricecheckah". I use it everyday and really think it's the only iPhone app worthy of your article. You should really do it justice by adding it to your main article.

Not totally true, in Belgium for instance, you are not forced to take a dataplan, so it could come in handy. Besides, if you are a heavy data-user, wifi-finder will help you to save credit from your dataplan for when there is no wifi.

You could get a free iPod touch instead! In my case, my buddy is a student and so when he was buying a new mac, he could get a free iPod touch. He already had an iPhone and let me get the iPod. I just had to go, pay for it, and immediately filed for the rebate. I get to use all the apps, use free wi-fi and not only do I not have to give up the money for the device or a monthly payment!

There's an app called THE BEST DEAL which helps you to compare products that may come in different sizes or quantities very easily. Just type in the numbers and hit the green button and the bell rings and highlights which item is the best deal per unit. Pretty cool.
