A deadly sleeper virus is on the loose and it is spreading faster than you can imagine. It is known to infect 8 million machines so far.

The sleeper virus is known to steal your personal and financial information. The Downadup or Conflicker worm exploits a bug in Microsoft Windows to scan through the networks and attack computers. Home or individual PC’s are known to be at less risk from this virus as it is programmed to target large networks.

The virus at this point is not known to harm the computers in terms of deleting files or anything similar but the analysts say as the worm connects back to it originating point which means that the worm can receive orders for further actions on infected computers.

The structure, design and functions of the Sleeper virus is said to be complicated with an unclear purpose however it is being researched and reverse engineered as I write this article. So, as of now the best way to protect yourself is by keeping your Windows Installation and Antivirus updated.
